Ok what's the difference between Record of the Year and Album of the Year?
I think record of the year refers to singles.
yeah, it explains the criteria on the grammy site.
hm, so i wonder what the difference is between Record of the Year and Song of the Year is then
Record Of The Year
(Award to the Artist and to the Producer(s), Recording Engineer(s) and/or Mixer(s), if other than the artist.)
Album Of The Year
(Award to the Artist(s) and to the Album Producer(s), Recording Engineer(s)/Mixer(s) & Mastering Engineer(s), if other than the artist.)
Song Of The Year
(A Songwriter(s) Award. A song is eligible if it was first released or if it first achieved prominence during the Eligibility Year. (Artist names appear in parenthesis.) Singles or Tracks only.)
Now that I read what the site has posted, I don't see the difference between the first two.
From the Grammy awards FAQ page:
What is the difference between Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year?
The Record Of Year category honors the artist and the producer(s), recording engineer(s) and/or mixer(s) if other than the artist. This category is for a commercially released single, or track from a current year's album. The Song Of The Year category recognizes a songwriter for a single or track that was first released or if it first achieved prominence during the eligibility year.
