what kind of system do you have? why do u want to update the BIOS?

you can usually hold the [DEL] key down at startup to get into the BIOS. updating the BIOS is very technical and you MUST know what you're doing.

It's a generic system I built.. last upgrade was 2 years ago or so... I have a AMD P450 CPU and I bought a 40GB IDE HDD that the BIOS doesn't recognize... I went to a computer shop today and the owner reminded me I can do a software upgrade on the BIOS to see the new drive...

it don't reckanize???

to do a BIOS upgrade, you need to know your mobo brand and the BIOS chip brand. Ex: Award, AmiBIOS, etc. Then do a search on the internet for your mobo's web site and/or the BIOS manufacturer's web site. Each BIOS has different ways to upgrade...

When it boots, push F2 or F1 ...it will bring you into your BIOS settings (for instance, adding a password) so you can check out what type you have got there.
