There was a lot of novelty garbage released in the eighties that now stinks up the "eighties" compilations that supposedly represents the decade.
there is a lot of music, though released in the eighties, that stands above all the one-hit wonders and unique characters tha gained so much praise and appeal. Music that people are listening to NOW that hasn't fallen under that 'silly sappy eighties novelty pop' umbrella that so many indulge in. We've got bands like the Cure, Joy Division, New Order, Talking Heads, Tears for Fears, Petshop Boys, Echo and the Bunnymen, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Genesis, and even the Pixies--who've inspired so many of todays alternative bands.
Find the true sounds of the eighties, folks!
i have em....all on vinyl still....lol
you are of a few. good ears.
Don't forget The Smiths, they've been a large influence as well. Also we've got Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, and I'm sure many others.
I forgot the Smiths and D'Mode. I meant to list them. Haven't really listened to Sisters of Mercy.
