I was thinking something similar--this guy is a huge Queen. only a queen would be so catty toward a girl who genuinely means well. laughing it off is almost the only way it won't eat ya up. let it slide. let him be vindictive and evil and eventually everyone will see that you're the stable one and he's the evil vengeful queen.
