i once heard that if you feed a goose alka seltzer, the goose eventually blows up!! is this true at all????

When I was really young this girl from school, well her older brother apparently got his kicks by giving soda to little birds.
If I'm not mistaken birds cannot burp so yeah they explode.
Don't hold me to this, I didn't actually SEE it happen but he said it worked.
