Hey, if you like Irish music and classic old Irish tunes ('cause I saw you mentioned "Whiskey in the Jar"), plus some new fun ones, check out Roger Drawdy & the Firestarters. (rogerdrawdy.com)
They are a local Irish band, and the lead singer is straight out of Ireland, so cool. They are so fun to see live (we go all the time), but the recorded music is just as good. They really give you a feeling of good times. :)
Oh yes, love the Irish folk songs! Local as in local to Ireland, or local to Ohio? I'd be interesting in seeing them. Sounds like good stuff. Let me know next time 'round. And may I suggest "Lad Lane" whom I saw in The Temple Bar, in the Temple Bar section of Dublin. Particulary talented flute player (superfast) and bodhran player. They did mostly that Celtic fast kinda stuff, that would be awesome for stepdancing. Not the sing-songs, but very enjoyable.
Weren't you due to go to Ireland about now, actually?
Local to Ohio....but they play at a local Irish pub here called the Dubliner a few times each month. If you're ever in the area, they are a good group to check out.
They also have an awesome flute player and bodhran player. Very fast as well....hahaha...looks like we have good taste in Irish bands. :)
Yeh, Awesome. I've been trying to think my own Irishesque melodies up as well. Haven't got too far with anything yet, but one is almost complete, once I have decent words to go along it should be all set. Right now playing it, I sing silly words to it.
