Adam and I got engaged in Phoenix. We flew out there, with me under the assumption that we were going to meet his friends there, and celebrate his parent's anniversary with them. (It had been 2 months earlier, but we weren't able to be with them at the time.....better late than never.)
Anyways, it was just the two of us (my mom was great enough to watch Tyler for the weekend), and on the flight out there he started acting like something was bothering him. I kept asking what was wrong, and he kept saying he was just thinking about stuff, and had a lot on his mind. Then, about 15 minutes before we landed, he said he wasn't happy with things the way they were. Of course I'm freaking, but I let it go because we were about to land.
Fast forward to the next day, when we were going out to a nice fancy dinner with his parents, his sisters and their husbands for his parent's anniversary. We're at dinner, and he's still mopey. I'm trying not to think about it, and worry myself to death that he might dump me when we get home. During dinner, his mom suggested going to The Point, which is this awesome restaurant that sits on top of a HUUUUGE hill that has a Hilton Resort on it. Of course the guys protested, but his mom said "It's my anniversary dinner, and I want to go!!" So she won. We paid the bill, and headed there.
When we got there, Adam was still acting grumpy, so we ordered drinks outside. As we're waiting for them, he suggested we go take a walk. So we walked away from the family, and to a spot that overlooked all of Phoenix.....very gorgeous.
He started to apologize for the way he'd been acting, saying he had been thinking about our relationship for a while, and that he didn't like things the way they were, blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile, I'm thinking "If he thinks that by breaking up with me HERE, that I won't make a scene, BOY is he wrong!!!"
So he goes on to say more stuff, ending with him telling me things needed to change, and what he really needed to change is that he needed me to be his wife. At that point he pulled the ring out, and got down on one knee and proposed. And of course I'm bawling by now.
I had no idea ANY of this was planned, but his WHOLE family was in on it, and he was trying to throw me off by acting weird....and it SO worked!! :)
