Knoppix rules for rescuing hosed windows machines. cool info on BartPE, I've read a little about it (mostly for creating custom install CDs), but never saw it in action.

Yeah knoppix is really incredible, yet such a simple idea

Basically it's a choice between:
Knoppix + reinstall of XP (actually sounded like just get rid of XP in that article)

or

Actually repair XP without reinstall if possibly by using BartPE
