ok, i talked to blackberry - you can only backup/restore - the .ipd file cannot be viewed. there may be a 3rd party program to let you do it, but BB didn't know of any. case number 2536330

well, thanks for the effort man. The blackberry is in Java, so maybe there's some covert Java app that can do it.
