Does anyones work give them christmas presents?
i get a christmas "bonus" that happens at the end of the year
i take it
so i keep the $$
I wasn't really asking to get everyone's opinion on whether or not to accept. My company doesn't give anything, I think they are cheap.
yep, we get a week to week 1/2 off (paid) between xmas and new years (dependss on what day xmas falls). we get our yearly bonus, and raises and a HUGE end of year party.
Last year the office manager gave us little lotion packets. This year she gave us each a paper stating the firm used the money as a donation to a family of a local 15-year-old who was shot in his home on Monday. :( Very sad.
(we get a bonus and have a holiday party too; I thought you meant in addition to that stuff. :P )
oh wow. well at least the money is being put to good use.
The story is that this kid just opened his front door and was shot in the chest. (The local news article.) Honestly, it's cementing our resolve to move out of this town; the shooting was about 1.5 miles from our house. That's way too close to home. Plus, the state just approved plans for a slot casino on the other side of town (near that shooting) which means unless the city beefs up its police force, there's going to be a serious increase in crime.
wow, well, you have to remember you're still living in this system, where there's wicked everywhere. You cannot find a place thats safe. and if you're letting a shooting down the street from you make you go into hiding i would move to a remote island. LOL we had a 16 year old get shot a block away from our house. it is def scary, dont get me wrong but things are happening even in the remotest parts of the country.
I know, I know. If I could buy my own private island and live off coconuts, I totally would! That's not the only reason we want to move; there's lots of factors. Statistically, there's lots of towns surrounding us that have lower crime, so there's no reason for us to NOT go there, ya know?
This reminds me of last year. Some crackhead was selling magazine subscriptions door to door and an old lady invited him in for something to drink. He robbed get, killed her with a fire poker, and left. He was caught pretty quickly.
This was like 3 streets down from me. I live in a very quiet, shore town. Shows ya that you can't hide at all. Violence strikes like lightning.
An aside: Because the dude was going door to door people started flipping out about us preaching. We weren't permitted to go out for almost two weeks. Now theres a "no knock" sticker avialable from the county. Some people think this applies to us, so we carry a little sized down document indicating that it doesn't.
oh wow! something like that happened down our street when i was around 6. some druggie was pretending he was there to work on the old ladies house...she couldn't remember if she called them etc. so she invited him in, he robbed, raped and killed her. it was SO horrible and our neighborhood was an middle-upper class neighborhood too.
yeah and not to mention that Brick, NJ is considered one of the safest towns to live in the entire US and this happened about what, 10 miles from Brick? heh
they have a christmas party here, where they give out a small cash bonus. they typically give me mine the next day or something, at my desk.
in previous years they've also sent out like cheesecakes and stuff to everyone, but that didn't happen this year.
Smaller offices, no cheesecake. What's your office coming to?
i know! and it smells like smoke in here too! stupid smokers
ugh, i worked at a temp job where the two attorneys AND two secretarys smoked, in the office! it was awful! i could have accepted a permanent job, but decided to leave, cuz my health is more important. if i were a client, i would leave upon entering, just from the hit of STINK you get when you walk through the door!
yeah they smoked at the lawyer's office i used to work at.. and I worked there for over 2 years.. i'm a little afraid of what I did to my lungs
everytime i get even a slight cough i get nervous hehe
I got a nice bonus for reaching our goals for the year. In the words of Marv Albert....YESH!!!!
