My conversation just now with a deputy Sheriff:
Deputy: Hi there.
Diana: Hello. How are you?
Deputy: Ehh, terrible.
Diana: Oh, I'm sorry! Is that my fault for calling?
Deputy: No, no.
Diana: Ok...
Deputy: It's the sun's fault - it came up this morning.
Diana: Um, alright... I'm calling for my client...
What a freak!
you should've said something annoying to him like, "i know, isn't it a beautiful day!!!" haha it's kind of amusing to do that to angry people sometimes. although, i can be that angry person at times.
I couldn't tell if he was angry or joking - that was the bizarre part! He talked to me like I was his best friend and I was just laughing nervously.
It's always entertaining when professional people are having bad days. 9 times out of 10 they suck it up, but sometimes the bad day shines through and they say weird things. i like it.
I got a big kick out of it! :)
poor guy! i guess you're not used to peeps kinda showing emotion huh? peeps do that here...you could talk to some random person in line or wherever and they'll just say something like that. its nice to engage them in a little convo...show them that there are still some good things in life. or maybe you may learn your life isn't so bad after all.
I think he was trying to be endearing, like Charlie Brown. It was just so random, it caught me off guard.
awww. LOL
*oh and there was this lame car holding up traffic, going like 30 MPH and everyone was honking at her....her license plate....Pennsylvania LOL
Oh! Yeah, I just switched to a PA plate and I'm pained when I see my car now. Every. Single. Time. We still really want to move to Cali. We're toying with options.
NICE! norcal or socal?
Nocal. We fell in love with Napa county when we were there in sept.
oh yeah thats right....are you guys checking out jobs, housing or just toying with the idea right now?
All of the above, I guess. We looked online at what kind of apartments/houses we could find in what areas and how many job opportunities there are nearby. We're thinking in 2-5 years, we'll make it happen.
okay i have to share this story, although it's lengthy, because i HATE PA drivers. this happened a couple weeks ago, i was in a rush to get..somewhere, and i was waiting at a red light, with two cars in front of me. the light turned green, and the first car was turning left, so he had to wait for the oncoming traffic, then the next vehicle, who had plenty, PLENTY of room to go around the waiting car, just sat there and waited...for the whole term of the light. i was FUMING! but i didn't honk.
so then, the next day it was a different situation, but i was still annoyed about the previous day. there was this car in front of me, waiting to make a right onto a busy road. now, our light was red, but the other direction had a left turn signal, so she had time to go right, while the other people were going, so i gave a little toot...she threw up her hand, then i layed on my horn, and she gave me the finger. i was soooo mad! then when the light turned green...the women went straight! OOPS! i thought she was turning right. i was honking at her to go into oncoming traffic. hahaha
HHAHAHAHA OMG so funny! i've done that honked at the other car and i ended up being in the wrong. I was driving through this intersection and i started honking at the car that ran the red light cause he almost crashed into me....wellllll it turned out IIIII ran the red light and almost crashed into him. LOL OOPPS!!!!
oh BAH!! you think CA is so much better than NY! it's not! haha the only reason it irks me that you always say that, is because i'm kind of like you, just on the opposite coast. haha i think all things NY are the best. my hubby always gets annoyed cuz i'm always talking about how NYC is the greatest city in the world. (which is a lot for me, cuz i'm very into my italian heritage as well)
i love how NYers are kind of indifferent. nothing is really shocking. chatty people kind of bug me. hahaha
i never said better than NYC...i LOOOOVE the city...everything it has to offer...so much culture. the only thing is peeps arent nice. LOL they're pretty rude there.
see, haha, i totally disagree. i don't think they're rude, i think they're indifferent. i really noticed why NYers got that rep when i went to Boston, because, you walk around the city of Boston, and when someone steps in front of you, they say sorry, or excuse me, whereas NYers just keep going on their way. But other NYers don't care if that person said excuse me or not! it's the tourists that care! so i guess on some level it is rude, but NYers just don't really care.
LOL thats the thing they don't care. here its the same thing if we bump into someone, or get in their way we apologize, say excuse me etc. when we were out there peeps asked us if we were from CA and we'd say we were and we'd ask how they knew and they'd say cause we were nice. LOL *we thought it was the valley talk that gave us away LOL
I can say for me, the only reason I'm sometimes rude is to protect myself. I know I'm just a little white girl and there's lots of freaky people out there. I think it's a side effect of living near and going to school in Newark. My standoffish-ness to strangers is just to protect myself. But that's just me, I can't speak for new yorkers.
yea, i totally agree with that. i do that mostly if there's a guy hard-core checking me out, and it's making me uncomfortable, i scowl. and if he talks to me, i'm quite rude. if you give them the time of day, they don't quit.
Me too. The scowl is a protection, I think. I honestly don't even like it when men online at the grocery store talk to me, so they get the scowl.

I grew up in NJ and I LOVE NEW YORK, but California to me beats NY/NJ in a heartbeat!!
LA > NYC
