does anyone know if optimum charges more for HD broadcasts?

you have to get iO digital cable to get HD from them. so if don't already have iO, it's an extra $10/mo. if you already have iO, you have HD.

plus there's like cablecard rental fees, and stuff like that.

of course you can get HD over the air for free, too.

yeah ... which is better? I'm pretty sure we have the basic (normal) cable, nothing special. Not sure if we have IO or not. Maybe i'll read my bill.

HD over the air is superior quality, but limited selection. Cablevision has like 40+ HD channels.

Do you have a cable box? If you don't, you don't have iO. If you do, you may have iO but it could just be an older cable box. Do you get like TCM?

TCM = the movie channel? no idea, never checked.

we do have a cable box. i will check on this tonight.

Turner Classic Movies. There's a bunch of channels that you get with iO that you don't have normally with just Family Cable.
