has anyone ever rented a car in europe before? any suggestions or bad experiences?

dad has rented several times with Sixt and we have not had any bad experiences. do you need to know anything specifically?

well we're going to italy and we need to rent a car. i want to get a decent deal but i'm just afraid of getting ripped off. thanks for the recommendation
