as interesting as the rest of your theories are..i have to say i agree the most readily with #4. i think it has a lot to do with that..because mostly everyone has gone through heart-ache so they can relate.
i think most people that dont really like his music is because they dont sulk like the general public. haha
But lots of band's sing about heart-ache in much more original ways. They don't just whine and cry and put it to music, their lyrics are deep and soulfull..sometimes.
