no u don't need it, you just go to the picture, click "options" choose "Send" then choose "address1" and then click the right side button to change it to Abc, then enter the email address, then send it.
oh man, when i first got the phone i tried to do that but it didnt work..then the verizon lady said i needed the internet thing...but i just tried it..and it worked!! woohoo!
