Have you ever read 1984? I could totally see that happening, like if I didn't know the new system would come before that. I really enjoy books like that because it takes what you already know and then explores your imagination with it.

Have you read "Brave New World"? That's another good one on those lines.

Thats actually my favorite out of all of them (them being dystopia books). I think the way Aldous shows the oddities of that society through their sexuality is really amazing

ohhhhhhhhh, i LOVE brave new world, that's my favorite one too. 1984 is a close second though, and then there is the giver, the childrens version of dystopia...i guess thats what sparked my interest in the first place. But brave new world is so amazing, and so scarey too

my freind geogre told me all about the giver, i meant to pick it up.is it like they cant see color and some weird things like that?

tinser tinserOG 2002

yep, or feel anything...its a really great book...but its better when you're younger...but its still got a great concept behind it

ye i read 1984, and it was pretty tasty. i loved it, it's crazy becuase possibly the world couldve been like that

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

I know!! The way they had the economy working was simply amazing. Pretending (actually, a kid and I got in a fight over this. I said they really weren't at war with other countries..he said they were) they were in a constant state of war to keep the economy stable? Brilliant!

ekulu ekuluOG 2002

yea, that whole "War is Peace" thing. i thought it scary, but still kinda fascinating. i always ten d to think, though, how would christians live in those kind of circumstances

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

They wouldn't? "Christianity without tears, that's what soma is" according to Brave New World.

ekulu ekuluOG 2002

hehe. i actually never read a brave new world. by that time i had read 1984 and anthem, and that was enough for my already

dude, its 2003. you can stop worrying that the world is gonna become a dystopian police state with cameras in your house. 1984 was like 19 years ago or something.

That's what you think.
