Ok, so we are doing it again. And this time it might be a bit different, well hopefully a bit different. Cause, i have been accused of being narrow minded, boring, lame, having a party and not gettin everything to work. Well this is for you naysayers. We got a scheduled date of the 15th of November. So I was thinking of having the MEN over for some hardcore gaming, and some of the womenfolk over for other "fun" stuff. Ie : board games and talking about matching pillow cases. Soooo, if this seems like your cup of tea... put some suggestions up here on what you wanna do!!!! and COOOOME ON DOWN!!!!

i think any lan party is 10x better if you only come if you're playing in the lan. 6 guys with pcs takes up a lot of space, makes a lot of noise, and creates a lot of heat. add in 10 girls who don't care about the computers, and you have problems.

so my mom got this amazing board thing. it's sorry, monopoly, poker, cards, checkers, and dice and sooooo many games in this compact little carry around thing. its really niice. i'll bring it and everyone can have their pick of like 23 games.

rummy 500 is a definite must for all card players. very important. i used to play about 5 games a day for 2 weeks every summer with my grandfather.

how exactly do we link up? what if someone doesn't have the game everyones playing? how long does it take to network a buncha comps together? i know the general principles, but i need a lil more info. run it down for me/
hahaha, funny you should mention that... cause LAST time, NOTHING worked like, AT All!!! but we also had alot of equipment failing and things not setup properly. Ideally, we should have a router (which i have) then a hub or 2 that will be plugged into the router (which i have as well) and then everyone that plugs into the 2 hubs should be given a DHCP address and be able to log onto the network, be able to see all other machines on that network and everyone see them. And while we are dreaming, it would be GREAT if all the machines didnt have any problems when they are getting into the games. And ALSO they should all be able to have a copy of the specific game we are playing along with all updated drivers. BUUUUUT who knows, we hopefully have IWZ there to lend his support along with TOOOOBEEEE who is gettin smarter by the minute, sooo i think we are gonna be fine. But if all else fails, we can just go with the naked twister idea!

i'm still not clear on this, do i have to go buy the game or can it be shared on the network somehow? how much wrenching will this all take? and how long?
depends on the game. for Halo PC, you need to bring your own copy. for half-life/counter-strike, you can get away without bringing your own cd, but it's better if you own it. makes things easier.
really i'd go pick it up, but i'm leaving for a cruise on monday and i don't want to drop the cash. would it be a problem makin' an extra copy?
halo won't work with a copy, cause you have to have different keys
i understood that. i was referring to half-life. besides the requirements for halo are...demanding even for my kinda newer comp. i don't have fancy gaming cards and all i've got is 256mb of ram. 512 is comfy for halo, i understand.
my laptop sucks.. so .. i can't .. unless it's xbox.. .. anyway i can always play with the ladies and bake and dance and kiss and stuff
What to bring to a LAN Party
A suggested 'Kit List' is as follows:
PC - Your PC with a network card. If you do not have one you either buy your own or ask me to get one for you. You need a standard RJ45 networkcard running at either 10 Mbps or a 10/100 Mbps. OR an 802.11b or g wifi card. If in doubt email me before you buy.
Headphones - you must bring these. Speakers must be turned down at the request of any other player and so the use of headsets ensures you get to hear the game/music ok
PC Games - Your game CD's. You may want to burn a copy to bring to the event rather than your original disks as a security precaution.
Your Windows/OS/driver disks - Sometimes you install that new hardware or software to take advantage of the local skilled people to help you out.. this sometimes neccesitates loading drivers from your windows CD.
Power link - Sufficient 4 way adapters for your own needs, one is usually sufficient. ONLY plug your 4 way adaptor into one of our adaptors (all red or marked with red tape).

this game is NOTHING but fun. the new one for gamecube is ultra pretty and fun and all, but a lil too much. the original is the best and can't be made better. it's too good. andddddd i'm seriously good at it. four players can play at the same time and it's just insane fun. maybe we'll get to play.
