Anyone need a router?
by I have a 4-port Netgear Cable/DSL Router that I don't need if anyone would like it. It's just taking up space in a closet.
Some other ezablers (Superhero and Web-Toed Chloe) hooked me up with their unneeded electronics junk, so I'm returning the favor.

laptop update:
so it was the inverter that was a problem. dell has a funky design though, on one side of the leads it doesn't look like its supposed to be soddered, its just like a battery terminal, flat metal, and if it doesnt sit right it flickers, i think ill either solder it or reinforce it with epoxy/glue
so small parts my eyes hurt
anyway, its pretty when its on

laptop update:
i took the lcd assembly apart last night to get a jump start on it
looks like someone was inside before, i saw hairs stuck to elec tape and scratched paint off screws, but maybe they were mine i dunno, hehe i forget quickly
the backlight solder joint on one end seemed to be broken but doesn't seem as if the backlight is the culprit, seems the backlight inverter. did an arc test, no juice is coming out, i should be able to CPR the state of wisconsin with that thing (1850 volt output)
so im going to drop some cash on an inverter...

i ordered an inverter from ebay, its a shot in the dark, inverters were hard to find for this bad boy, on ebay it was listed as a CPx 13.1 inch, but i thought the screen was 14

ever see GMC car radios? They are double the size of regular head unit slots (geek: aren't they actually 1.5 the size?)

no, they actually are double the size. DIN is a standard size for car stereos, and double-DIN is often used for stereo/cd players, or stereos with in-Dash CD Changers.
so in a space where you could fit a head unit and an in-dash amp unit - you fit one double-DIN radio (Nissan XTerra's for example have double-DIN radios)
I would have had one, but my dad's now taking my old car with the double din. I don't think he plans on replacing the stereo, but if he does--It's all yours.
Let me reiterate: I don't care if it's broken. In fact, I'd rather it be broken, since I'm going to gut the thing anyway.
it's actually not broken--which is the problem. If it's not broken, my dad doesn't have a reason to put in his stereo from HIS old car. Therefore, I would not have a double din stereo to offer you. BTW, it's a stock Nissan Double Din--hope that's okay, too, but from the sound of it...it is okay.

not sure what you're talking about. you can't buy car stereo parts anywhere I've been. I'm not talking about a computer case, I just need the shell(case) of a Double-DIN radio. (they do sell computer cases that are about DIN sized, but they are expensive)

lol, I need to find some peice of junk laptop to bring to the KH and run the Magazine room with. Either that, or I should start using my palm...but I don't feel like using my palm, I'd rather have a laptop. One day it will happen.
when we build our new hall, we should setup a PC and printer at the counter for both mags and literature. that'd be awesome. but i kinda have the feeling they wouldn't want us doing that. you never know tho.
