Getting out of Jersey?
So, very recently, I have decided that its time to spread my wings. Leave Jersey for a bit and see what else is out there in the big bad world. I am positive that I will be back. I hear that you can never really leave Jersey if you were brought up here... any one else feel that way? Its a scary thought to actully leave good old Bergen County but basically its just too expensive up here. I'm heading down to Florida where rent and car insurence are EXCLUSIVELY cheap. I'm already talking to friends who are gonna help me get a job. And well, basically, May 1st I'm outta here. Any advice on leaving Jersey? Has any one ever successfully gotten out of here and stayed out?
On another note, to any one who has ever made a big move like this, what is the cheapest way to trasfer all your stuff? I can't rent a truck or anything since I am only 19, so therefore that is outta the question. I really only have clothes and shoes and one dresser.... i am not bringing my car down (finally getting rid of my honda! AH!) so its not a lot of stuff... i was thinking just shipping it all?
Any advice would be great :)

i'd love to move to europe for a while, sorta bum around and check everything out.
sucks to not be independently wealthy...
yeah, i'd like to do that too. any good pyramid schemes workin'?
New England is beautiful, the atmosphere is so tranquil. California I've considered but, I get nervous thinking about earthquakes and land/mud slides. Although not such a city girl, I can't move to where it's dead... I need to be central (few min from most things). Right now I'm not too bad close to the city, lots of public transportation (in case I needed to commute for work). Eh, we'll see what happens.
As a person who moved from PA to NJ, don't smash all of your stuff in the car. It's time consuming finding the best way to jam it in and then unloading is a nightmare.
get a band van
yeah and don't let your grandfather duct tape your cds into your cd tower.
(the guildervan still wasn't big enough, remember how full my car was?)

I like the Jersey shore. I adjust very well to change and I'd move anywhere for the missus. BUT JERZ! It's close to NYC, close to Philly. Every major show passes thru here. We've got Six Flags, and several aquariums. We've got good hiking, good camping, good eatin'. I'd love to visit other places often, but this is my home!
Getting a little personal now: I still attend the hall I grew up in and so many people that grew up here, around my age, for different reasons have run away, gotten DFed, just up and left, or got married and split. I'm one of the only ones left and I feel like sticking around and showing 'em that they can count on me. Staying around the people that've seen your up and downs and that truly care about you seems nice to me. Leaving and starting over seems too easy. That's just me though. I'm a fairly simple guy!
i know what you mean, i've been in the same hall for 15 years (ok, subtract 2 for england, but i came back) and i want to show that i'm dependable, and i stick it out through good and bad, i'm still at the meetings, still doing what i can, still prepared, still willing to help. yeah, i definitely know.
glad someone knows how i feel. thanks dude.
i met this talking fish and somehow he moved all my stuff for me. he kept drawing maps for me for all these islands, and sometimes he let me play this game where i try to hit him with an arrow and i would get 10 rupees for every hit, and now i think about it, these rupees are worthless
HEY! I LOVE THAT GAME! BLESS THAT FISH!
