Can't get a break, folks. I was hauling a really heavy package. The package was reinforced with this nylon type strapping. We're taught to never pull a package by the strapping. Ever. WELLLLL, I'm pulling it along by the straps and one of the straps breaks and my fist comes back and whacks me SUPER HARD in the mouth! I'm talking "gotta check if your teeth are still there" hard. I check and come back with more than the usual amount of the blood on my fingers. I go to a mirror and my lip has several deep cuts in it from my teeth AND also my knuckle has a cut from my front tooth. Lips all clotted up now and not so swollen, but I'll have a nice big red and blue lip for when I read at tonight's book study. Totally wrecked myself. Beauty! Radiohead said it best in thier song "Just."
"you do it to YOURSELF, thats why it REALLY hurts."
This one time, i had to hold up the whole world on my shoulders... and it was really heavy.
I TOTALLY remember this.
One time when i was little like 12, i was on the playground me and my friend where on the seesaw another girl came up behind my friend and pushed her side really hard down and i went flying off the seesaw and landed on my arm , i looked down and there was this white thing hanging from elbow took me a sec to relize it was my bone . I had a huge crowd around me and then the nurse came for some reason I didnt cry or anything bit do remember the sun being in my eyes and the nurse telling me that since im doing a great job she promised me a milk shake from bob hoffmans an awsome ice cream store , that made me happy and she did keep her promise. It ruined my whole summer though being my arm was wrapped in bandages and 2 pins in my arms to set the bone was unable to enjoy the ocean that summer so was bummed out. I now have full use of arm thanks to therapy.
Today, I was processing the air trailer [a trailer full of priority packages and envelopes that is flown in on a plane]. The trailer is pulled up by a truck to a platform where theres a bank of computers and stuff. Theres maybe a 12 inch gap between the trailer and the platform and today, while I was talking to someone, I fell in. I FELL IN! my whole right leg went down between the trailer and the platform giving me a nasty bloody scrape from my calf up to my thigh. The little guy I was talking to yelled OH S***, VALENTINE, ARE YOU OK?! Though his concern was believable--he didn't try to help me either. I guess he was in shock. Well, whatever the case. That sucked. Ruined my day. Hurts like a mug.
ah man! hope you feel better dude :(
OMG you poor thing. i do hope you're ok!

YIKES!! aw poor UPS guy! lolol

Nope. No uniform. I'm behind the scenes. I don't represent the public face of the company. I'm a UPS Morlock.

im usually pretty calm with anything having to do with injuries and blood... but i hate needles... you come at me with a needle and i will do anything to get away from you... my doctor knows this all too well... hahaha too many stories have to do with me getting hurt and running away from many a nurse with a needle in her hand...
wah, i don't want the needle, wahhhhh
lol
noob
tell your mom i said hi!
I've only been in a scary situation a few times, and only had to react MYSELF once.
My mom was getting ready for work one morning, (when Tyler and I still lived with her, and all of a sudden she starts screaming for me to call 911. I ran in her room and her nose is just spouting blood. Apparently she had a nosebleed that would NOT stop, and they wound up having to cauterize (sp?) the inside of her nose at the hospital later on. So I clamly called 911, and since we lived about 30 seconds (literally) from the fire station, they were there right away. One of the EMT's was a friend of mine from high school, and he and his partner took care of my mom, and loaded her in the ambulance while I packed up Tyler to follow them in my car. Scary when you have to help your parents.
The second time, was right after Adam and I had started dating. We were at his aunt & uncle's house, and everyone was in the living room watching TV. Tyler wanted a drink, so we went into the kitchen, and chilled there for a while. He had just put a lifesaver in his mouth about a minute earlier, and ca,e around the corner of the island in the kitchen, trying to scare me. He did scare me, and I jumped, which kinda scared him (he was only 2 at the time), and he accidentally sucked the lifesaver back into his throat. He started gasping right away, and I panicked. I have never (and yes, I'm a bad mommy because of it) really attempted learning infant and child CPR, so my first reaction without thinking was to call for Adam. He later said he could hear the panic in my voice when I yelled for him. He came in and basically saved the day. Tyler spit the lifesaver onto Adam's shirt (along with some puke too....welcome to fatherhood!!), and all I really remember after that was grabbing Tyler and sobbing with relief....I don't think I let go of him for a good hour.
The EXACT same thing happened with my grand... her nose was bleeding uncontrollably. They also had to burn the inside to stop the bleeding. They said ifit ever happens again that could be IT (cause lossing blood so quickly).
That's scary.....ugh....not fun. :(
Whoops......double post....hahahah......my bad. :)
This past year I was hangin' with a friend @ their house, when SUDDENLY the security alarm went off. We were already locked in the tv room ('cause I'm paranoid). So both our eyes big as saucers, BOTH certain that someone has broken in, are totally in shock. Instict #1 GRAB SOMETING HEAVY instinct #2 We're trapped we must get out.
My friend literally wrapped her arms around me and started yelling "Oh my god Liveia!!!" over and over.
I called my mom (on my cell), who unfortunately was asleep before I called, so she couldn't do much. Next thing I knew I had pushed the 30-40in tv along with all it's components AWAY from the window...ripped off the screen, cranked out the window, climbed out, reached back for my friend...took off (on foot down the driveway). Before I got to the street my friend reminded me we had WHEELS. We hopped into the car (I locked us in), we took off towards my house and called the cops.
We waited at my house while the police were checking things out. When my friends father called and said the coast was clear we headed back.
They didn't find anything off, or anyONE in the house but, the also never were able to account for the alarm going off.
Eh, better safe than sorry...I really suprised myself, guess I just don't want to go out like that :)
lol, so funny
yeah, livy, you really wussed out. *movie reference*
dumb and dumber :)
ding ding ding! You win!
This story is wicked wicked wicked funny. Wish I were a fly on the wall for that display.
okay, I'm sorry, but before anyone else tells a story about a car....make sure you use the word "brake" and not "break". I guess if you hit the breaks, there should be no wonder why you were in a car accident.
:( I always put the wrong one!!
salright, buddy! : )
When I lose control of my car in the snow I just kinda go like "hmmm..this is what I'm supposed to do in this situation" and commonly pump the breaks or whatever and then continue on my merry way. The thought of "wow..someone could hit me or I could hit them" doesn't even come through.
I've had my share of car accidents. And every time, when I see it coming, i'm just like, "oh... crap." *BOOM*
OH MAN!! one time it was late at night and the hubby and I were driving home on the Parkway. Suddenly i saw the car in front of us like, do weird things so i just slowed down to give myself more room and kinda kept my foot on the brake. Then suddenly the car in front of us SPUN OUT OF CONTROL and started heading towards us. Scariest thing ever is to see headlights heading right towars you, on the Parkway.. eek..I just said "oh no" and thought "well, this isn't gonna be fun" and just pressed on the brake. Annnd the car spun off the road, just barely missing us, and then just got back on the road like nothing happened. Whew.
He was probably picking his nose and lost control of his finger and tickled his brain instead.
yeah, good times, getting off the wrong exit to try to go to my house. Doh!
haha yeah man.. with prodigy blasting
Hahaha, true true. I know what you mean. It's happening and theres nothing you can do. I know what mean.
My cat scratched my eye a couple months ago at night, she got scared and jumped and her claw got me good, right on the eyelid, and blood poured out pretty much immediately, and I was not calm in the least and freaking out like an idiot, and my husband was totaly calm and totaly saved me :) my hero ;) hehe
One time there was an emergency where someone was bleeding and unconscious and the 3 other people present were FREAKING OUT and they just kept passing the phone from person to person because no one could speak clearly to the 911 operator and then I took the phone and totaly calmly described the situation. And I think I even cleaned up the blood. And tried to calm everyone down. About a week later I got the post-tramautic stress thing... this happened at night and like for months afterwards I was like, afraid of the dark. This was almost 10 years ago ... thank goodness nothing even close to its intensity and horribleness has happened since.
something similar happened to me. rollerblading w/ a friend down in georgia she went ahead of me and when i turned the corner i saw her at the end of the cul de sac unconscious in a pool of blood. the blood was coming from somewhere on her head but it took me a while to find the spot b/c she was covered head to toe. i didn't remember the address friends we were staying w/ but a lady passing by gave me a clean sock to help stop the bleeding and i described the house we were staying in. all i could do was try to remember all the first aid i had learned (it came in handy). after about 8 hrs in the ER, then i cried.
wow, that's really rough
