what about the word uncanny. like, the resemblance between maggie gylenhal and that pile of dog poo is uncanny. but nothing is ever just canny. whats up with that?

fivezero #4.1 fivezeroOG 2003

yeah, true. americans never use the word canny. unless perhaps we're referring to a woman with large breasts. ok, i made that up.

fivezero #3 fivezeroOG 2003

i dunno if this is a weird word but...

Fop \Fop\, n. [OE. foppe, fop, fool; cf. E. fob to cheat, G. foppen to make a fool of one, jeer, D. foppen.]

or one whose ambition it is to gain admiration by showy dress; a coxcomb; an inferior dandy.

that's a word i've always gotten a kick out of.

You can just plain wreak. Like, stink. Right? haha

tesoro #2.1 tesoroOG 2001

oh, that's reek. lol

You can unleash havoc. Not sure what you're talking about silly blondie. ;oP

thefunkyfresh #1.1 thefunkyfreshFounder

true, but there's only a few usages. wreak is singular i think

iwz #1.1.1 iwz

it's a verb... can't be singular or plural

thefunkyfresh #1.1.1.1 thefunkyfreshFounder

singular in its usage i mean. it's only ever used in combination with one other word

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

it definitely isn't *exclusively* singular. and it's pretty safe to say that "wrought havoc" or "wreak[ed] havoc" is a snatch from some literary prose i'm unaware of and people just used that way far, far more often than not. what do you think?

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

used = use it

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

are you talking about wreak or havoc?

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

lol, i'm talking about the words being exclusively bound.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

in the end, i don't find either of them weird. i like 'em both. together and apart.

useless info: as a lame teen, in the early days of aol... for a long time my screen name was Amok Havoc.

amok is another cool word.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

that's actually a perfect example, it's exclusively bound to the word "run"

omg they've run amok!

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 thefunkyfresh

actually, yeah. as exclusive as it gets. good call.
