you know, it's been a month since I wrote this, and a lot has happened ...

Lauren and I got accepted to the international convention - and since we're out of vacation time, we've been discussing taking a leave of absence to go. But if we're going to do that, we might as well take a longer break and do something more worthwhile with our "house fund", than buy a house, right? We don't have a plan yet, but it's going to be good.

wait, you guys coming to the one out here? the international convention is at Long Beach which is like literally 20 min from me... or you going to another one??

Sounds cool. For an idea: How about International Kingdom Hall construction with your leave of absence and house fund?

I have so much to say about this. I just haven't sat down and wrote out my thoughts in a constructive fashion.

So glad to hear that you were appointed.

So glad you're in touch with Jehovah and his organization when it comes to setting an example of simple living.

So glad to hear that you are able to be in touch with your congregation, and want to. That's exactly what a shepherd should do, and should want to do.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, I feel for you. Keep setting a good example!

-More to come

I'm happy to hear about your appointment, bro. Also, thanks for sharing those recommendations. It's encouraging to hear about the simple living, ways that you're helping out the Congregation, and how a lot of us can have a share in the helping out as well. Keep up the good work, and you'll continue to be blessed. I'm all for the simple living. We do not need to further complicate our lives in these already tough last days. A job's a job. It should only be for supporting our ability to further the Kingdom message and sustain our life. Not to impress the world with pomp and prestige.

Dan, first, it's great to hear that you were appointed. Now you and Lauren have a rare opportunity as a young elder-pioneer couple to show your concern for people in your congregation. And no you don't need a "title" to be there for people, but it helps them to put their confidence in you. As difficult as it is to lose friends to the world, it does help those of us who remain to focus even harder on staying close to Jehovah and his organization and encouraging others to do the same.

it's tough growing up, i feel a lot of these things to. But to lighten the mood, watch this clip. Flight of the Conchords talk about the issues:

dan this is great and i agree on really getting to know people and LISTEN to them. sometimes people have a hard time explaining whats REALLY going on in their lives for fear they're going to be judged. and we need to remember IF someone is going through tough times, dont react to them and be quick to spread the gossip.

soo true.

on a funny note, i do the accounts in my hall, and as a joke a few weeks ago, the kids realized that when I collect, i leave the pennies in the box until they add up to like, 10. Well, they dumped 353 pennies two weeks ago. Last night, there were 896. I was livid. OHHHHH there will be payback.

thefunkyfresh #1.1.1 thefunkyfreshFounder

it's funny that they did that, and it's even funnier that you actually COUNTED 896 pennies

superhero #1.1.1.1 superheroOG 2004

i didn't have a choice! every time i was like "Yeah i'm leaving those" someone would say "Remember the widow who put in two small coins!"

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

lol... true, but she did that cuz it was all she had. i think if she had just dumped all of her spare change like that she would have been struck down.
