Dublin, Ireland could be fairly cheap, with exception to food. Food could get pretty pricey there. You need to be savvy when it comes to that. But, do you mind staying in a hostel? 'Cuz I bet it wouldn't cost you any more than a trip to California. And, I've gone there on my own. Why would you need to depend on friends going with you on a trip to Ireland?
Actually I'll clarify... Dublin is pretty pricey with all the financial stuff that goes on in that city, I reckon... but flight and hostel part of travel expenses won't add up to all that much. Watch your wallet with other expenses or yes, you could blow through your money really quick there.

I did a cross country train trip there over the summer.
And, if you're staying with friends..California can easily be done on the cheap.

todd. lets go to costa rica..ive been meaning to check out the preaching scene down there for a while.
also been in contact with some missionaries in dominica. it seems pretty awesome.
not that this trip has to be all preaching, i want to go surfing too :)
ill go for 19 1/2 days.
John, would you be able to go Dec 1st? I'm thinking of going all of december. just spend a month or so down there. I get 19 1/2 days off, but I also get like 2 weeks off for christmas break. That would be amazing. I know a great spot to go to just surf. Not sure that bringing our boards down is the best idea, though. Probably would be better to buy ones down there and sell them before we leave. Also, I know a congregation and a few brothers and sisters down there.
