The Love of a City
-------------------------New Orleans--------------------------------
Many people always have a place that they love. They want to live there, visit there, and its their goal. My place...is New Orleans. I simply love everything about it. i love the culture of jazz and rock and roll. the fact that people play good saxaphone on the corner. the crazy spirit. the history of french in the city. how warm it is. when i live there i just may have to leave the city during mardi gras but, besides that... its simply my perfect spot of earth. the art work, the smile i develop when i think of my being there. the large librauries, the food (spicy and good) like different culture combining down there.
this is mostly why i've set my sights of attendin tulane university in new orleans (if i decide i wanna go to college, still debating yet). there's even a hall down the street from the dorm that i would probably live in.
what's your spot of desire? the place you crave to visit, live in, and brings a smile to your face?
for me....i will always crave to be in new orleans with good food in my stomach and rich music filling my ears.

New Orleans is the greatest city i have ever been to. There is so much history and a reason for everything they do. I loved the food. The people are so friendly...
i forgot about writing this. but it's funny cuz i still do really wanna go but now i want to go to rio so much more. perfect on the beach!!! and i really wanna go to barcelona, spain very bad.
Although New Orleans is great, my place would be North Shore of Oahu! The exotic-ness, the true aloha spirit AND the great waves!
TRIP TO SABA!! WHOOHOOO!
I really like Phoenix, Arizona, for a number of reasons. I have family there, so that's a plus. But I love the change of scenery, too. The weather is warmer, the air is cleaner, and everything just looks so pretty, compared to where I live now. That's the place I love the most (and hopefully I'll live there someday!!).
oh.. do you need to ASK>?!??!?! AUSTRALIA!!!! I would get a pet dingo and go surfing every day. I LOVE the accent too... its the BEST thing ever, i wanna go someday, but i dont know when i can.
so i was reading the paper today and heard some more about another place that i love. my home country of puerto rico. and there is a bay on the south side of the country that glows in the dark!!!! its amazing. so wanna go back now.
more details on this, please.
it's called Phosphorescent Bay near Parguera (that's a fishing villiage in the extremem southwestern part of Puerto rico in the municipality of lajas) it looks the best if there on a moonless or very cloudy night.
it's so crazy!! our friend was born in puerto rico so yesterday i asked him about it and he said they used to jump in the water and then play hide and go seek and tag. the water clining to them continues to glow an eerie green so you just see these green forms running around in the dark ahead of you while you chase them. sounds so stinking cool!!!!!!!! i wanna go!!
I guess that means after an evening swim, they aren't usually organizing an immediate game of manhunt.
that sounds like an unbelievable place...i must inquire more about this particular locale
why are you talking like sherlock holmes???
shut it. i asked one of my friends about this (ok, i'm not going to pretend - you all know who i asked), and it sounds like an AWESOME place to go....but can a camera really capture this??
video camerea probably could. maybe a regular one if you didn't use a flash.
But why does it glow? Is it toxic waste, bits of jelly fish..or just a natural occurence?
i saw that on E's Wild On. it was pretty cool. my mom lived in puerto rico for years and i was born there and i never even heard it before seeing on TV.
OH MAN!!! You are soooo right. New Orleans is my city too!!! I love it, it has such a different ambiance. The food, the history, the culture. That is the place i'd have an alternate house in...
Japan. I would love to run around and just pretend I'm Japanese, eating all that wonderful food and wearing all the beautiful clothing. I can see myself saving up so much money just so I could go there and buy all the adorable little cute hello kitty stuff they have. And I want to see their artwork and their their gardens..and just be surrounded by beautiful asian people everywhere I go. And of course, buy a cool school girl outfit!!
Greece. I don't know why, but I have this new fascination with the Greek world. Maybe it's because we are studying ancient greece in my history class, I don't know. I can just see myself sitting on the porch of a white washed house on the Aegean, and everything will be so beautiful. The water will be that amazing blue green and the buildings will be stark white.
you know, japan would be a pretty cool place to go...just because the culture is so different then that of America. They put the group before the individual, and that's the complete opposite of here...although, i hear that the younger generations are becoming more selfish. My dad has been there and said it was cool, but he liked Korea the best of the Asian countries.
I was told if I really wanted to see something beautiful in Asia..Thailand (but it's not called that anymore I hear) or Vietnam. If you go to Vietnam though..say you're Canadian.
well, the last time my dad was in vietnam was during the war...so i don't think his impression of it is too high
and thailnd....i always think of that movie...with clare danes
Yeah! and they're in the prison and she gets a cockroach in her ear.
eww, yeah...my dad told me this story about vietnam...one night somebody dared him to go sleep alone in the bunk house...and he didn't know why nobody slept in there, but he decided to...and then as soon as he laid down,he felt itchy, and he lit a match and the entire cabin was full of huge cockroaches and they were all over him!
well, a place that i "crave" to visit so much is bora bora and tahiti. I've only seen picutres, but both islands, particularly bora bora look like the epitome of paradise. They have little shacks on stilts above the water with glass floor bottoms. I can only dream how perfect it would be to stay there
I'm trying to convince Adam to take me there one day, and he keeps reminding me that there is no one within miles, and you're so secluded once you get there. I keep reminding him, that that's one of the reasons I'd like to go there. Not being bothered by other people or the stresses of life for a week? I'm in!!
yeah, it's gotta be an amazing place to visit...who cares if there is nobody around...its beautiful!
Exactly. I'd love to stay in one of those little huts, and just sit on the beach all day, and not have anywhere to be, or anything planned. Just relaxing.
yeah, they are perfect...you walk out and the ocean is right in front of you...and they even have glass bottoms...unfortunately...they are about $500 a night!
Yeah...I think that money thing is what's keeping us here, rather than there.
yeah, its not everyday that you can go to bora bora...i want to go there on my honeymoon...thats a perfect honeymoon spot
