Thomas Kinkade is to art what Avril Lavigne is to punk.
...an embarrassment????
thank you
I really like him... and the "glow" to his paintings is what makes him famous... dont hate matt...
its the "i'm a demo/born again FREAK" look
you ruined it. i had no idea who this "kinkade" fella is.. and you hate him. but you still mentioned his name.. thus forcing me to know who he is.. thus giving him MORE publicity. i hate you
how do you all not know thomas kinkade?! He's everywhere...and although my mom thinks he is a sell out....i've gotta admit, i kinda like his work...its happy...its like the bubble gum pop of the art world...maybe it makes me shallow, but i think it has its place in society. Go capitalism! haha
how many times are you going to post the same thing in this thread?
your mom thinks he's a sell out.. we get it
Easy killer
at least as many times as you ask toxic girl to go out for tacos with you (only to get rejected)
oh, and dan...my mom thinks thomas kinkade is a SELL OUT
As far as YOUUUU know, i got rejected
all i'm sayin is, brian went on vacation for a week
you're looking to get dropkicked
Hahaha...um, guys? Can you keep me out of your lover's spat? I'd appreciate it. Dan, how long must we all wait till you ask her out?
yeah, really DAN. this is VERY juvenile.
she's right dan. she's soooo right.
Who is this guy?
Thomas Kinkade? Check the link in forrestina's post below. That should give you a pretty good idea.
He is pretty creepy looking.
he looks pretty ordinary to me. is it the mustache?
It must be!
"A man with a mustache!"
"I am not the object.."
I have no idea who that guy is, but i googled him and found a painting of his, "City by the Bay". it's alright, it would make a really good puzzle porabaly
It's funny that you mention puzzles since you can get a lot of his paintings as puzzles.
my mom is a painter...and she can't stand him...she thinks he is a sell out
I wish I was good enough at something to be a sell out...
this is an awesome comment. i agree somewhat!
definite sell out (my mom's a painter too!)... there are thomas kincaid STORES... he's really big esp in the south. the guy prolly does 3 paintings a day.
hahah, yeah he's like a manufacturing machine...yeah, his stores are big in the malls
HA, ME TOOOOOO,, my mom loves him, and at the menlo mall he has a gallery and i get dragged in and dragged into my death!, He is so boring!
hahaha this is so funny. I was just thinkin about this the other day. I was buying something and next to the register they had Thomas Kinkade ornaments, and while I waited I just remember staring at the ornaments and thinking, "who cares???.. ooh i put a white dot in the middle of a dark area and it looks like a lightbulb... oooh" haha
however, considering that i will never be able to paint like that in my entire life no matter what i do, i gotta give him some credit. It's nice when you can get paid for art.
I'm not really impressed by him, but most of my girlfriends are obsessed. He seems to paint a lot of churches as well.
yeah, i don't dig the religious paintings. i just think he has talent, but i wouldn't necessarily buy one. besides, any kind of religious painting creep me out.
Does he do any non-religious paintings? All of his paintings seem to have some sort of born-again motif to them.
i thought he also did alot of woodsy type paintings-cottages in stuff. maybe i'm getting 2 different artists mixed up?
He does, but the lighting in them always seems to be trying to evoke some sort of religious feeling. If you go to his website he calls a lot of his paintings "inspirational", which, to me, is code for born-again. Even the title he calls himself, "Painter of Light", seems to be trying to hint at a religious theme. This is why, even though I love some of his paintings, I would never have them around.
hm, you may be on to something. i just never thought about it that way before. but then i've never really read much about him or anything, i only occasionally see his stuff around.
yeah, i just think all of his paintings are just commercial, cookie cutter crap. its all the same
true...painter of light? gimmie a break
oh so that's who this is??!?!?! i see this man's paintings everywhere i go.
the band-aid inventor?
hahaha...i feel a google search coming on...
the artist?
yeah...
but why? i think he paints very well. i mean, he needs to get out of the cottage in the woods theme, but he's talented.
because they're all the same. its just commercial crap, there's no depth to it. he paints thousands of paintings a year... its terrible
