Now that I work, I am starting to miss school (not college). Yeah, it stunk doing homework and papers and tests. However, I miss how easy things were. In elementary school you didn't have to work, or worry about car insurance. Actually in my school, I was more concerned about sitting on the red cafeteria bench seat with the gross boy who picked his nose. If you sat on the red bench with a boy on wednesdays it meant you were "in love." I spend a good deal of kindergarten recess with my friend Jessica searching for Puff the Magic Dragon. She saw dried mudd on the playground that looked like a footprint-so she told me he lived somewhere in the playground. You were more worried about beating the bossy fifth graders out to the kickball field after lunch so that you could be in charge of the game. And everyone would gang up on the doofus who would ruin our game by kicking the playground ball on the school roof. Our principal was like a military captain. It was rumoured that he had a spanker with holes in his office. There was a first grade teacher we called "Mrs Beane the mean machine." Haha, so dumb. My fifth grade teacher picked his nose and kids said he had ties in his desk with boogers stuck to the back. I can't really say the same for my bosses now. I miss the days when a scathing comeback involved saying, "I'm rubber and you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you." I miss having a locker to decorate. I miss changing into my uniform for gym class. So here is the place to share all your dorky school stories.

i'd have to say my easiest and happiest years were in elementary skool, and i grew up the most during middle skool and high skool. i grew up doing 95% of my work by myself, no help. i was like the only jw cuz the other kids in my cong are in another school district, so it'd get kinda lonely sometimes. i'm glad i was well respected throughout the years, it amazed me. having my first best friend during middle skool really helped me to direct myself, but i still have a lot of good memories from the past years.

i'd say i had the greatest times Preschool - 12th grade. then after 12th grade. it's a different kinda fun

thatdarngirl #5 thatdarngirlOG 2002

I loved High School..I wish I was still there at times, cept for that whole wake up at 6 thing. It was just unlimited fun and laughing with no work to do and yet passing classes anyways.

ilikebirds #5.1 ilikebirdsOG 2002

yup highschool was like.. heaven, minus the wings, halos and chicken dances

specialk #5.2 specialkOG 2003

I didn't care much for high school, but I think that would be different if I lived in a different area. The kids at my school were super-snobby, and very catty. (Think 90210, without the warm weather all year long)
I didn't care for many of the kids in my school, which is probably why I didn't like high school very much.

thatdarngirl #5.2.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

Oh man..90210. This comment iiisss meaningful!

specialk #5.2.1.1 specialkOG 2003

Yeah....we even had kids that reminded me of the ones on that show. It was weird.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

Ours had it's diverse crowd except that i hate to admit, we were the 90210 crowd - LOL! Our reunion was a blast though...good times!

specialk specialkOG 2003

Ours was aso a very diverse crowd...but they still were a bunch of snobs. I didn't go to my 5 year reunion, but I would have liked to, just to see how much all the popular kids have changed, and not for the better. I ran into the most popular girl in my grade about a year and a half after we had graduated, and she had gone SPEEDING downhill, if ya know what I mean. I felt kind of good.....hehehe...is that mean?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

not at all! Enjoy that you're in a better place, in the truth!

specialk specialkOG 2003

Yeah....I also laugh because, when I saw her, I had had a kid, and she hadn't, and I had gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight, which is what I weighed all through high school(113), and she just looked awful, in so many ways. It was very empowering, because she used to be so pretty (and also so snotty to me, and all the other kids not in her group), but I guess the stresses of the world had gotten to her or something. It made me feel like I was doing something right, living a clean life.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

EXACTLY!!! It's awesome how the truth keeps you young in SO many ways!

specialk specialkOG 2003 socalgal

Yeah......I do feel older than I am, though , having had a kid at such a young age....but yeah, when your life is clean, you feel better, both health-wise and conscience-wise. And you look better, too.

tinser tinserOG 2002 specialk

hey, maybe thats why i look so young! I've been a witness all my life

specialk specialkOG 2003 tinser

Being a Witness.....the best wrinkle-cream!!!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 tinser

I admire you for being a waitress. Some people can be so nasty. Do you ever feel like dumping the food on the nasty ones?

specialk specialkOG 2003 socalgal

Um...who's a waitress? I was, like, over 2 years ago.......

T
toxicgirlOG 2003 socalgal

actually she said witness, poor thing, you've been staring at the screen too long.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 toxicgirl

that is SO funny! I've been on another deadline so my mind and eyes are SO gone! LOL thanks for the correction!

malibu #5.2.2 malibuOG 2001

see this is very weird to me. we have some very rich kids at my school but we also have some poor ones. my school is VERY abercrombie, aeropastale, american eagle (if you can't tell by my lack of caring how i spell these i don't wear them) recently we got a lot of spanish kids, albanian, black, and punk. but it's weird cuz we still don't have cliches yet. i mean football players hang with eachother during football season but everyone kept their old school friends from kindergarten. i've grown to like it a lot more. you pass w/o doing anything. i love it right now.

specialk #5.2.2.1 specialkOG 2003

Our school was a lot like yours sounds....but there were definitely cliques and things. We had a huge diverse mix of rich, poor, etc., but the ones with money were a little more prominent. That's the way the whole area I live in is. Very wealthy, but you also have other "classes" thrown in there. And so that sort of defined my school. I never really fit in any one group. I was in band (laugh all you want), chorus (go ahead,...laugh), colorguard (laughing is fine....really), and all the arts programs, but I also had friends out of those groups, who were popluar and not so popular. So I never really fell into one category. But the snobs in my school were just that....snobs.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

this one time at band camp...

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

hahahahhhahahahahahahahahahahahah.....

(sorry i had to , you asked for it)

specialk specialkOG 2003

It's ok to laugh at me...I laugh at myself...I'm over it, it was 6 years ago.

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

i was only kidding. dont hate me. hug?

specialk specialkOG 2003

Oh, all right. I don't know you, but I'm a hugger, so here's one for you anyways!!! :)

skaorsk8 #4 skaorsk8OG 2002

i think school was all a crazy time. so many adventures. insane gym classes...we had this thing called project adventure where we did rock climbing and belaying from the side of the building...then we did tightrope walking from 40 feet in the air over a river, while attached to a zip line...WOW was i scared. the only way down was to jump. it took me like 20 mins to get up the nerve. but it was awesome.

tinser #4.1 tinserOG 2002

wow, your school sounds way cooler then ours. We played football in gym instead.

yodasucka #4.2 yodasuckaOG 2003

we had that too! we also had to climb up this ladder and fall off backwards and just hope that our class mates would catch us haha

skaorsk8 #4.2.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

yeah ok you had a ghetto project adventure. just a ladder. i guess your school has no $$

yodasucka #4.2.1.1 yodasuckaOG 2003

yo i go to hackensack! what do u expect!?

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

today's project: put on this blindfold and walk through the hall. try to avoid your "friends" packing heat.

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

hush it bub

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

you started me off

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

we haven't had a gun in school for almost 2 years! well ok i'm sure we've had guns... just no one has been cought for 2 years..

tinser #3 tinserOG 2002

elementary school was so awesome because life was so simple then. I loved being little and innocent...i loved it so much, that when i graduate college, i'm going back to elementary school. Although, i think it may be slightly different this time around.

specialk #3.1 specialkOG 2003

I'm with you, Courtney. I loved Elementary school. My life was so much better then, and that was before the little cliques could form, and everyone was pretty much ok with one another. When I got to middle and high school, things changed, and people pretended they never used to go over to another kid's house (who might not have been as popular as the next person) to play when they were 8. It's like that episode of "Friends".......where that one lady says to that guy in the museum cafeteria, "I shared my pudding pack with you, man!!" HAHAHA.

rocksupastar #2 rocksupastarFounder

yea i agree, school besides the homework was the best times... so easy...

reaf #1 reafOG 2002

I never EVER decorated my locker that was so gay!
I voted middle school, but Id also vote highschool cause I was home-scooled, and THAT was fun times!

forrestina #1.1 forrestinaOG 2002

hah they used to decorate lockers with wrapping paper for peoples birthdays

yodasucka #1.1.1 yodasuckaOG 2003

they decorate the football players lockers every single friday.. its SO annoying.. stupid cheerleaders have nothing better to do with their time.. i don't have a locker... i use my car

ilikebirds #1.2 ilikebirdsOG 2002

i never had one locker... at least 3... because our highschool was so freakin' huge that there were two buildings.. and it was a pain in the butt to carry books across buildings.. or run one to another getting books.. so we shared lockers.. i could never get the combinations right. hated that.

thatdarngirl #1.2.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

Yeah, Senior year my locker was in some dusty un-used corner of the school so I didn't use it once and used my friend Caitlin's instead. Our locker was insane cool, it had sooo much stuff in it. And we used to steal posters from the school (advertising for events) and paste them to the walls of our locker.

ilikebirds #1.2.1.1 ilikebirdsOG 2002

yea my lockers were decorated with opened bags of chips, dirty gym clothes, rank sneakers, and socks

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

We had a rotting kumquat in ours for a while..

T
toxicgirlOG 2003

wow, how exotic. you must have gone to a really good school.

socalgal #1.2.2 socalgalOG 2003

i had the same problem. you'd be running late and you'd have to go through a million combos to get the right one! Ah the good ole days!
