i voted for St Marks cuz i've never been to South Street but St Marks has many cute lil cafes that are fun

aviator #11.1 aviatorOG 2004

agh CUTE!!!! haha

thatdarngirl #10 thatdarngirlOG 2002

I was in Philly this weekend. I really don't enjoy cities but Philly is pretty cool and their china town is totally better then NYC's.

aviator #10.1 aviatorOG 2004

haha san fran chinatown rocks. NYC china town is nasty. Have you ever seen it in the Gremlins?

tinser #10.1.1 tinserOG 2002

yeah, cisco's chinatown is awesome...way cleaner

aviator #10.1.1.1 aviatorOG 2004

yeah and it has better food.

tinser tinserOG 2002

never got a chance to eat there...i'll have to keep it in mind next time i'm there

aviator aviatorOG 2004

haha they just opened up 4 new restaurants at the airport that ROCK. Sky Asian Bistro, Sammys BBQ, and Mex and the City and some salad bar. The food is goooooood. I am gonna gain weight

socalgal #10.1.1.2 socalgalOG 2003

yeah it is. SF is a mini NYC

tinser tinserOG 2002

maybe that's why i like it so much....san francisco is one of those places i would really love to live (just like the tanners!)

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

oh yeah me too, becasue it has that east coast feel, but on the west side

tinser tinserOG 2002

totally...hey, do you know if real estate there is notoriously expensive like san diego and la?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

its more so. you're looking to pay close to $1M for a condo

tinser tinserOG 2002

woah! thats insane...oh well...guess i won't be living there in the near future

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 tinser

rent.

I'd never be able to afford real estate in hawaii. not anytime soon anyway.

tinser tinserOG 2002 modestjesse

yeah, i just hate seeing money disappear when you could have it going somewhere...like towards a mortgage

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 tinser

property taxes aer a killer also. some are paying $3K + for property taxes here in CA

tinser tinserOG 2002 socalgal

wow, that's cheap! property must be smaller there....because people out here pay $12,000-$15,000 for an acre

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 tinser

oh its not cheap for what you have. you've been here, we go by sq footage, not acres. that would be a LOAD of money if it were acres, but there's not enough land. maybe in the 909

tinser tinserOG 2002 socalgal

yeah, property is super small there...everybody wants to live close to the water i guess...corona del mar....i wanna live there!

cali is a little bit depressing, because there are so many places i'd love to live there...but the prices are crazy

iwz iwz tinser

my in-laws in western PA pay like $60 a year for real estate taxes. makes me cry.

tinser tinserOG 2002 iwz

makes me laugh...its like one of those dreams where nothing makes sense

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 iwz

WOW that is crazy!! awesome but so unreal here! my parents signed over the house to me and my sister.. My dad kept his name as a 3rd party whatever and since he's still on there, our property taxes are like $800

deanh77 deanh77Founder socalgal

wow. I pay $4k for property taxes on a townhouse.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 deanh77

you're kidding? that is expensive. i'm pretty fortunate on what we pay

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 tinser

I hear ya, when I first got married we were renting an apartment for like $660 a month, and we thought the same way you did. So we bought a house and was paying $1280 a month and our taxes were like $6000 a year, worked out a lot better to know we were going to have something to show for it. After I left the house I was paying $1005 a month and wanted to vomit. It's sad to see all that money wasted and have nothing to show for it. But in Hawaii I'll be doing rent again and who knows, maybe one day I'll find something, but rent for now. Who knows what you'll come into. Get out of NY it could be a nice change for you. :)

tinser tinserOG 2002 modestjesse

yeah, i'd like to try something different....i don't want to live in NY the rest of my life just by default....if i'm gonna live here...i want it to be because i've experianced other things and made a choice

aviator aviatorOG 2004 modestjesse

Delaware the land of opportunity

specialk specialkOG 2003 modestjesse

Yeah, same goes for us with Phoenix. But it's really good that Adam's dad is a real estate agent there...hahahaha. :)

juicymango #9 juicymangoOG 2003

isn't the village full of gay people

i don't really like NYC anymore

Philly rules

modestjesse #9.1 modestjesseOG 2004

No, it's full of culture, all types, it's a wonderful thing.

aviator #9.2 aviatorOG 2004

whoa that's a stereotype. The Village is an exotic neighborhood with gay people in it but I wouldn't say its FULL of them.

theremin #8 thereminOG 2002

Neither. Portobello Road in London

aviator #8.1 aviatorOG 2004

yeah well this is for us local northeasterners. Not a bunch of Ceaux de Weiloitte

aviator #7 aviatorOG 2004

Dallas BBQ should be on it. MMM Wait I know they have a BBQ place haha

forrestina #6 forrestinaOG 2002

my fave thai restaurant is by st marks

modestjesse #6.1 modestjesseOG 2004

Thailand Cafe?

forrestina #6.1.1 forrestinaOG 2002

no "the republic"

modestjesse #6.1.1.1 modestjesseOG 2004

Hrm, never been to that one. Which street is it on?

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002
fivezero #5 fivezeroOG 2003

St. Marks is way better than South Street.

aviator #4 aviatorOG 2004

haha well I guess its true. I mean on St Marks Place I usually find good deals on music and stuff but on South Street I have been able to find good deals on rarities that I really want.

thatdarngirl #3 thatdarngirlOG 2002

I think it depends on what you want to do and who you are. South Street is very alive all the time (my sister lived on south street for a while and when sleeping over it was hard to ever sleep). St. Marks is awesome though because its totally directed and visited by only a certain type of people for the most part.

modestjesse #2 modestjesseOG 2004

St Marks is so much better, nothing but guidos and other morons on South Street. The shops are better, the restaurants are better, the people are better.

hunkpapap #1 hunkpapapOG 2003

is there really even a question?
