Stuffing

malibu by malibuOG 2001 · Nov 25, 2004 · 139 views

so at work tonight there was stuffing. i was excited cuz my favorite part of when my mom makes turkey is the stuffing. so i tried it at work and......was extremely let down. it was in now way bad but my mom's is just a bazillion times better. can't waint until she makes it again. maybe since its just an old family recipe and i never eat it any other way. maybe since she bakes it inside the bird that makes it so good.

but anyways then people were saying the same thing. it was good but it wasn't like their mom's or aunts or grandparents. i mean people get really attached to the stuffing. others were sharing recipes of like apples or rasins and nuts being in their stuffing. personally i can't imagine it but what do you think? do you enjoy abnormal foods in the splendid stuffing?

In this part of PA, they call stuffing, filling. when i heard it the first time, i was like, what the heck is FILLING? weird.

filling is for a pie not a turkey

Stove Top stuffing ALL THE WAY......nothing better as far as I'm concerned.

I agree. They have a new "italian style" variety that rocks.

Hmmmmmm.....I might have to purchase that sometime in the near future (read: TODAY).

My grandmother used to make this stuffing with rice, raisins and spices. Everyone else in my family loved it, but she still can't get me to eat it.

ugh, no fruit in stuffing! i don't like cooked fruit or fruit mixed in w/non-sweet, nondessert type dishes.

yeah. this stuff is weird. but for some reason i think of stuffing with flavored cream cheese sometimes and of that: i had rasin, walnut, and cinnamon flavored cream cheese yesterday. soooo goood!! def. reccomend it.

theres something about cooking the stuffing in the turkey, it makes it moist and even more flavorful. Two ways I enjoyed stuffing, 1. with cranberry raisans, sometimes apples, and the other way my grandma used to put pieces of sausage in it, but I remember the sausage being like freshly made somehow.

what are cranberry raisins?

sunshyne #3.1.1 sunshyneOG 2004

dried cranbarries. also called craisins. they are among the best dried fruit in existance bc cranberries are so tart. when dried, they are not sickly sweet.

This sounds awesome. I'm a huge fan of stuffing. And Foghat.

my mom does the sausage thing, and uses celery too. it's sooo good.

At first I did NOT like the idea of apples in my stuffing but my aunt makes this amAzing sausage stuffing with small diced apples in it. I dig it.

i think it depends what your stuffing goes with. we don't actally stuff the turkey but on the side we have dressing made of old bread, celery, onions, herbs and chicken broth. i make breast of veal stuffed with bread crumbs, apples, onions and sausage. i could see fruit flavors work if your meat is seasoned up really savory.
