Restaurant Food
Yeah, so I had to work New Year's Eve at the restaurant. Normally, this would be a bad thing, given the drunks and crummy tippers I have to deal with.
HOWEVER.....
The Executive Chef decided to prepare some "New Year's Specials" for the big evening, and they included one appetizer, two entrees and one very yummy dessert. I got to try the appetizer, which was Beef Carpaccio, sliced UBER thin, fairly on the chilled side, served with a creole potato salad in the middle....VERY spicy. Normally, this wouldn't even entice me.....but MAN OH MAN was it the best thing I have EVER eaten at a restaurant.
This got me thinking, what other foods do we like from restuarants? Maybe it's something we all know, maybe not.....but feel free to share. C'mon, it's food.....we all have something to say. :)

does anyone like the triple-whopper at burger king? i've only seen it in the commercial, and it seems grossly unnecessary...!

i know! at what point is that crazy puppet supposed make me want their food? (i prefer wendy's myself...)
in saw that and...now i'm down with gluttony now and then, but c'monnnnn!!! triple whopper? i'd NEVER. however i have partaken of 5 selections from the varied and delicious Taco Bell menu.

i wanna try making it myself but ... why... when i can go to a restaurant and eat art that someone has created for me
i love it
I tried making it myself - it came out pretty good. I couldn't get the cucumber slices as thin as the chefs and I couldn't wrap it as tightly, but it was yummy. It also saved pretty well for lunch at the convention. ;)
oh fun! yeah i can imagine how much cheaper it is to make yourself. Hmm. I wanna try.
My sister used to make it all the time for us- I wouldn't say it was any cheaper. We spent at least $20 making avocado rolls for the three of us.
Also- it takes a while if you want to get the rice just right and I don't think it tastes as good after you keep it in the fridge for a day.
Excellent points. The rice was horrible to make.
California Pizza Kitchen's Spinach Architchoke Dip. Amazing. Its a beautiful thing.
Chinese - because I can't make it myself
Lamb - because a good rack of lamb is sometimes too labor-intensive, and it's just as juicy and savory from a restaurant.
i have an excellant (easy) recipe for cashew chicken if you are interested.
