Is anyone on WW? I just started the Flex plan today. I'm doing good so far and I'm very positive about it. I have been fighting WW for a long time, but I read a little booklet of theirs last night and I think this will be the eating lifestyle that will work for me.

WW has stopped working for me. This morning, I switched to my dad's diet: low fat, low carb, high protein. He's seen dramatic results in combo with exercise (which I already have a great schedule of). If I don't see results, I think I will double up on my exercising.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

I've lost 10 lbs on WW so far! YAY! I should be more at 12 or 13 lbs because i've been on for 11 weeks now i think. But i was bad for a week or so. But no one had said anything to me, and it was a little upsetting, like, I'm working this hard, and no one can tell! haha but last night 3 people told me how i'm looking thinner. Very exciting.

I'm now 10 lbs away from my wedding weight. But i'm not stopping there! :)

I hope you are working out too. A lot of people go on these diets and then gain it all back later on because they don't exercise.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

Yup, I am. At least 3x per week. 5x per week if i can.

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Good. Keep doing that and it'll stay off.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

okay, so i started weight watchers a week ago and already lost 4lbs. i think this is going to be the plan for me. I don't feel restricted on it hardly at all. I really didnt like LA weightloss, it was way too restrictive. and the WW meetings are definatly an encouragement. i barely feel like i'm on a diet, but feel a difference in my clothes and stuff already. it's exciting.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

nice! a bunch of us are doing it together in my cong. i went off for about 2 months surrounding my move and now i'm back.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

oh really? great. me, my mother-in-law and my sis-in-law are doing it together. we're having a competition, who could lost the most. i'm gonna WIN! haha

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

i just started LA weightloss, 3 days ago...which i only did cuz i got everything for free cuz i know someone in the company...(otherwise i woulda done weight watchers) but i've found that the most difficult part of it, is how much water you have to drink! i'm always drinking and always peeing! it's so annoying! and my pee, is like, CLEAR! hahah

but it's really what i should have been drinking all along...64oz a day...it just seems like a lot cuz it's normally like 16 oz a day. haha

i've also cut out all liquids EXCEPT water...i think that will be a big calorie reducer.

the women told me if i really stick to it, i'd lose all the weight i want in 3 months....so, i can do this for 3 months!! i've lost 3 lbs already!

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

i'm only drinking water also. i was drinking poison aka soda for a while and it totally did me in.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

yeah i found out recently that even drinking diet (it's bad for you anyway) is actually more calories than you think because after a while your body just takes the fake stuff as sugar

i duno somethin like that

one of the other reasons i stopped drinking all the sugar free redbulls and monsters

malibu malibuOG 2001 ·

diet soda is also really bad for your liver or kidneys. i gotta review my bio notes from last semester but something like that. one of em.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

It's also creepy that coke can dissolve a tooth.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

and policemen use coke to clean blood off asphalt after an accident...*(9th grade earth science) it's funny how the interesting facts stick with you.

A
alexOG 2001 ·

haha, i dont believe this.

sgt: my god. they really did a number on this one. clean this mess up and bring in the meat wagon.

detective: but sarge., there's blood everywhere, what should we use to clean it up?

sgt: well we all know that a standard pressure washer won't take blood off of asphalt, but coka cola just might do the trick.

detective: coka cola?!?! the soft drink?!?! that's so crazy it just might work.

sgt: crazy? nah, i use coke all the time to get blood out of the trunk of my car.

detective: what?

sgt: uh, nothing. just get the the pepsi, and clean this dang mess up, pronto!!!

detective: uuuh, coke, sir.

sgt: shut up!

malibu malibuOG 2001 ·

you can also use coke as oil for your car engine in a pinch. but not long term

how do people think of this stuff?!?!

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

so i've lost 2 more pounds! this is fun and exciting. i'm starting at the gym today. any suggestions for what i should do there?

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

Congratulations!!! Does your gym offer reasonably priced personal training sessions? If not, I'd say the elliptical or treadmill.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

we have health coaches at our disposal for free.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

That's awesome! I'm sure they can give you good suggestions.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

she did! she showed me each weight machine and wrote down on a card my max weight i should start with. then she showed me some excercises she personally does with free weights. i loved the elliptical-i've never been on one before since i've never been to a gym. i'm looking forward to really getting started today.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

That's awesome! I can't believe you got all that advice for free! Rock on!!!

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Jealous!!!! I need a personal trainer, hahaha.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

one thing that personally helps me about the gym is setting small goals - but not weight-related, because ugh i hate the scale!! it lies and cheats and steals.

anyway

i make little goals like .. stay on the eliptical 10 more minutes today than yesterday ... run the mile 15 seconds faster... do 12 reps instead of 10 with this weight today, etc. etc.

and then you get a feeling of accomplishment

otherwise it gets boring quick, especially when the numbers on the scale don't change as quickly as you want them to

also remember when you start going to the gym and start building muscle your weight may stay the same for a while, because you're building muscle

this is the hardest thing for me, when those numbers on the scale don't change.. you just have to keep faith that you're building muscle and it is burning the fat and eventually you'll see the results

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

thanks for the tips! i love the elliptical cos i like seeing the amount of calories i burned and with my asthma the sensors help me keep a safe pace.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

yeah that machine is my favorite

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

"lies, cheats, and steals." that had me in stitches

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

how much do you want to get down to frest? ideally i want to be 130lbs, but i'd be happy at 135. i'm 5'5" so that's right in my healthy weight range.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

i'd like to be 130 too, but i'm sure i should be a higher weight since i'm about 5'7" man would i look svelte at 130 though!

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

yeah I'm 5'7" and even when i was 19, faster metabolism and working out every day i couldn't get below 135, i think it's just not possible at that height unless i starved myself which i do not intend to ever do haha

A
alexOG 2001 ·

yeah, i have a suggestion...work out. that's why people go to the gym

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

My mom and sister in law JUST started this...they seem to be happy with it so far. It seems like a lot of people out here do it too....I haven't heard anything negative about it, so it seems like a good thing. Keep up the good work!!! :)

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002 ·

Great job!!!

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

day 3 and no temptation or difficulty so far. i love 100 calorie pack things cos it's easy to remember that it's only 2 points. i guess the only hard thing for me is cutting back on snacking. and that seems to be how i packed on all these pounds.

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

my mom did it, and she's doing great!

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

Some of the ladies from my office did WW and Jenny Craig and had really good experiences. They lost weight and have kept it off for a little while. I think with anything else is just about how badly you want something. From what I've seen, I think WW is better than Jenny because you make and eat your own food, rather than the frozen stuff which is full of salt and chemicals. That just doesn't seem healthy to me.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 ·

Personally, I really hate all the organized weight loss plans like WW, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, etc... because of bad experiences that my dad had throughout the years trying to control his weight. Also, for myself, I found just doing research on different foods on my own and counting the calories myself worked fine. But, if it works for you, that's great, and I hope it does.

yay yayOG 2004 ·

This is the point system right?

I really think that this plan helps in self-control in portion sizing and what to eat, but most people don't realize that's all it really is. That's why you can still eat whatever foods you desire.

Anyway, I knew a guy who lost tons of weight on this plan.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

yes i'm on the flex plan which seems like it will be easier for me. there's a daily point allowance based on your weight so you can plan ahead and not eat anything crazy.

the core plan is a lot more rules, but you can have HUGE portions of certain things. it just doesn't appeal to me because you're very limited on what you can eat.

ideally i should see a nutritionist, but i can't afford it.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

one of my girlfriends did this and lost mass weight...i think its one of the best weightloss programs because it incorporates normal everyday foods that you crave.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

cool! i intend do this long-term so i hope it is a system that works for me.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

its seriously like normal for her. she knows what she can and cant eat, but she still doesnt feel like she's being cheated with sweets or good foods that she enjoys.
