So this elder in my congregation told me that my allergies have been acting up because my body is full of toxins. Everyone in my area is into herbal remedies. We're talking entire families where they only eat organic foods. Anyway, he said i need to detox my body. I don't know the first thing about it and he suggested searching for a Dr. Schultz online. I found a Dr. Schultz who sells echinecia and things like that. However there is no information about what I am experiencing and how this might help it.
I've never done well with herbal remedies. I just get more and more sick and don't get any better. I haven't taken claritin or anything like that in over 3 years bc they are crap and did nothing for me. My asthma is so bad lately and I'm almost always congested and wheezing. I don't mean to complain...but yea I am. I can handle congestion in my head OR wheezing but come on BOTH for weeks and weeks. Does anybody have any information to share on this topic?

I'm starting the Master Cleanse today and doing it through until the 8th. This should be interesting.

so far i've had 32 oz of warm salt water to start. for the rest of the time, i'll have this mixture: 2 tbsp lemon or lime juice (about a half lemon or lime), 2 tbsp pur grade B maple syrup, 1/10 tsp cayenne pepper (red) or to taste, and 12 oz of purified water (very warm). and that's it! you can double the recipe and drink it all day long, but that's all. i'm doing it for 12 days, but supposedly you can do it for up to 40 (i think that's just crazy). 10-14 days is doable for me.
Oh, I have done that, all I can say is OM. You will be amazed, and horrified. But I don't want to give away the ending.

Really? I've heard about these cleansing things before, but was never really sure what to make of them. They seem like they could work, but it also seems like you could lose a lot of muscle mass in the process. Especially if you're exercising at the same time. Have you done this before? Are there any guidelines as to what types of activity your supposed to do, and/or stay away from?
that was a risk i anticipated because i don't have a lot of muscle mass. there are whole books on what to do/not to do during the cleanse. personally, i'm going to cut back on excercise because i figure i might be running low on energy.

i have been eating low-calorie the past week and drinking TONS of water and i feel weak and dizzy by dinnertime, heh
plus i definitely do not want to lose muscle mass
however I added the cayenne pepper/lemon water mixture just as a drink between meals because it does make you feel full
last night i went home and totally crashed. i'm not sure i should be doing this in the summer since our apartment is pretty hot. jewy and i have been doing it together, but she has recital this week so it also might not be a good idea for her. i think i'm going to stop and start again closer to the wedding. it just doesn't seem smart to keep going right now.
It does get easier... first couple of days are hard, no matter when you start.

so, i know this is an old forum, but i just found it and my sister just sent me this detox thing. I dont know if i'm going to do it...but if anyones interested..here it is:
21 Day Detox Program
For the first five days of the diet cut out all processed foods, sugars, alcohol, meat, dairy products, wheat products, or any food derived form an animal or fish.
So you are left with fruits, vegetables, nuts, sprouts, legumes, rice and pasta.
Remember not to use processed or canned tomato sauce with the pasta, but to make your own, using fresh ingredients.
On day six, stop cooking your food. The above foods are permited, but only in their raw state, which excludes pasta and rice unless you have incredibly strong teeth and a digestive system to match. Raw legumes can be eaten by soaking them overnight to soften them.
Cotinue this way for a week.
On day 13 stop eating solid foods and drink only the juice of fruits or vegetables. If you have a juicer use it, or buy 100% pure shop bought juice. Make sure the juice is fresh, and not processed or made from juice concentrate.
Stick to this for at least two, preferably three days.
For the remainder of the time return to eatin only raw foods, while drinking as much fresh fruit or vegetable juice as possible.

Ok so I asked her and she said there are a bunch of different ways you can detox but the simplest is to just not eat for a day and I think as was mentioned by someone else to spend the day drinking lemon water.
If you want more info on detoxing let me know because my mom has lots more but she wasn't sure how into you really would want to get so she just told me to tell you the simplest way.

I don't think just lemon water. I think drinking other type of 100% juices is okay too. My sister used to do that a lot.
Yeah but there are other things in those that aren't so hot. If you really want to clean out and detox your system you should just drink water or lemon water.
Yea but only in small quanities. Sugars, natural or artificial would stop you up which is exactly the opposite of what you want if you're looking to detox. Soup diets are good as well because the broth holds the protein that you're not getting otherwise from fasting yet you're not having to go through the process of digesting meat.
the lemon water thing is def good, but technically you don't have to not eat for a day, but you have to eat super healthy-nothing artifical. a website called thewholeapproach.com tells you good things to eat. i had to do detox and i couldn't eat anything canned, artificial sweeters, etc. it's best to eat like that for a couple of weeks and see if it helps. i used to have "allergies" to and continued to be very ill, but i really had food allergies. detoxing and adding stuff back in slowly will help you find out if you are allergic to certain foods or artifical stuff.
But if you want to do a real detox and clean out your system then it's best to just not eat anything and just drink the lemon water for a day.

Orange Juice. Vitamins, not sure what else. I've never gotten into the whole holistic thing. Claratin used to clear me right up, but I haven't needed to taken it in a long time.
