Veggie Lovers speak out!

originalsnob by originalsnobOG 2004 · Aug 3, 2004 · 299 views

This is not about that yummy, inch thick golden crusted, super sauced, veggie ladden slice of heaven known as the Veggie Lover pizza. Hello a pizza CANNOT speak out!
The real topics of interest here are the misconceptions, and myths about vegetarian cuisine.

#1. Not all vegetarian/VEGAN cuisine consist of tofu or soy.

#2. It does not all taste like chalk or cardboard.

#3. And yes, there is a wide enough variety available that it is now considered a type of cuisine.

Have you been bold enough to venture into what we'll call "the other side of the kitchen"
Was it worth the trip?

just for laughs...when I was vegan/veggie my theme chapter of the Bible was Romans 1. I brought this up in the first Keep on the Watch study. It's a good chapter for us all to think about tho in our efforts to lessen drama and not be judgemental.

originalsnob #8.1 originalsnobOG 2004

Funny, my grand tried it/stole a taste and she's switching to...she has to lower her cholesterol.

Vegans are weird, plain and simple.

fivezero #7.1 fivezeroOG 2003

Agreed. Theres a protien in meat that makes me people sane. They are depriving themselves of that.

originalsnob #7.1.1 originalsnobOG 2004

Okay NO and BOoooo you both.

fivezero #7.1.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

HAHA. If you told me you were a vedgetarian, I'd believe it.

malibu #7.1.2 malibuOG 2001

speakin of depriving oneself of nutrition: while at work 2nite a boy told me how in the 7th grade he had solved the problem of world hunger. he says forget sending money and food to ethopian families but to send them microwaves and a bag of marshmellows. that way when one marshemellow expands to the size of the microwave, it could feed a whole village. itd give them meat on their bones so that they could then go out and work to make money. i brought up how that is not nutritious but he said that was absurd.

originalsnob #7.1.2.1 originalsnobOG 2004

Note: there are alternatives to ALL things our creator, has seen to it that there is an endless variety to choose from...in all of this none of the choices are lacking in nutritional value... the key is balance.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

Balance is key.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

tinser #5 tinserOG 2002 funny

i'm a carnatarian, i only eat meat because i feel bad for the poor plants that people kill and the terrible ways in which they are treated

suchgr8heights #5.1 suchgr8heightsOG 2003

This is really funny...Me too! I EAT MEAT! all the time!

fivezero #5.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

TO ALL VEDGETERIANS: for each animal you DON'T eat--i will eat THREE!

hunkpapap #5.1.1.1 hunkpapapOG 2003

I never understood why they said that. I mean by the time i eat them they're already dead. It's like the same thing with recycled paper...

tinser #5.1.2 tinserOG 2002

we should all start a carnatarian club then

when jahanna was a vegetarian, i tried sooo hard to break her...and i think i had an impact it breaking her too, since i was there the first time she ate chicken again

i work with 4 vegetarians at work, and i have to bite my tongue so many times during the day

fivezero #5.1.2.1 fivezeroOG 2003

i agree with these statement. i'll go eat a piece of chicken now.

hunkpapap #5.1.2.2 hunkpapapOG 2003

yeah me and my bro did this to my sister's best friend. We broke her of that and her aversion to soda. The best was when we ordered a stuffed pizza with meat inside. She had a slice before she realized she had eaten meat. Then she went to wash it down with soda, the only thing available. True story...

originalsnob #4 originalsnobOG 2004

YAY found YUMMY vegan buffalo wings!!!

thatdarngirl #3 thatdarngirlOG 2002

My sister is vegan and while some of the stuff I've tried has been good..I cannot stand tofu formed into long pieces of something that is supposed to be chicken.

hunkpapap #3.1 hunkpapapOG 2003

well then it's a good thing you don't date a tofu eater...

forrestina #2 forrestinaOG 2002

vegetarian burritos are really yum

perrin #1 perrinOG 2004

Yes it was. I've actually contemplated going vegetarian. My sister has been one for 8 or 9 years so I've tried many a vegetarian dish and let me just say most of them are what I would consider, good stuff. lol

originalsnob #1.1 originalsnobOG 2004

Excellent!I to have crossed over lol. I was pleasantly suprised that so many foreign dishes are (for whatever reasons) vegetarian. I am now addicted to Indian food.

perrin #1.1.1 perrinOG 2004

I have a friend who is a vegetarian that totally love Thai food. She can't get enough of it. lol. They have some really good veggeterian dishes.

socalgal #1.2 socalgalOG 2003

im somewhat close. the only meat i eat is chicken. so i'm borderline vegetarian. LOL

perrin #1.2.1 perrinOG 2004

The only reason I don't is because I'm at home and my mom is always getting annoyed because my one sister can't have wheat and the other one doesn't eat red meat so when she cooks dinner she is always having to make more than one things and I'm the only one who will pretty much eat anything.
