my literary oasis
(Tip:Skip toward the end to see the book titles and authors.)
As summer is making it's way out, my "current events" topics in conversation have been centering around reading. Particularly because I'm trying to avoid talk about politics. Such discussions lead to people trying to preach to me. Annnyway, since we're only doing one relatively short book a month in my book club...my over ambitious self has picked up and tried to plow through the books that didn't make the cut. This is in addition to other books recommended to me which is on top of books that I've been meaning to get around to.
So now there are books in each of the three rooms in my apartment, in my car, in the trunk of my car, in every bag of mine large enough to hold a book, in my shelf at work, on my desk at work, in my overhead bin at work. Where do I start? I'm quite a bit into each of the books. Today I resorted to reading one of the ones I picked up just yesterday. It is going to be a breezy read. Very comical. Probably not my best in a long line of bad ideas to start a new series of books to be addicted to. Reminds me a frightening amount of Summer: Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
I figure I'm going to go with these humorous reads to lighten myself up a bit. Next in the pile is guaranteed to be riske: Bergdorf Blondes:A Novel by Plum Sykes. That will be followed by Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. And just to make Ex-ey proud...I did pick up The Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen William Hawking. FYI: The cashier at Border's asked if I needed that one for my Physics class. Really this reading pandemoneum...it is Summer's fault because she has my book club book with her in Ocean City, South Jers at the moment. Thanks Sum for reacquainting me with my favorite escape.
