ROTK
*Don't read this if you don't want to ruin the ending of the movie*
Nothing makes me sadder then the end of Return of the King. All the parting, and the Fellowship is broken and they never see each other again! Legolas and Gimli see Aragorn again, as do Merry and Pippin..but Frodo never gets to see anyone again. And all the beautiful things pass away..all the Elves and their lands. And Ents! The Ents will probably fade away too because of men, and everyone has to pass over the see to the land of the Valar. And..then Frodo goes back to the Shire but he can't even live there peacefully anymore. He suffered the most out of everyone and can't even enjoy the peace he bought. It's all just very sad.

I am so bummed. I was planning on seeing ROTK Tuesday night (really Wed morning) at 12:01 BUT I have my Algebra final on Wednesday at 8 and then my Psych final at 2. What do I do? Do I go see ROTK, come home between 3:30-4 and then just stay awake and go to school and take my finals. Or do I just wait until Wednesday night and see it?
I have stayed up late the night of a final. Speaking from experience, I wouldn't recommend it. Get some sleep, eat a good breakfast. After the final, reward yourself with some Orlando Bloom.
It depends. How much do you care about actually passing these courses? Because if you care at all then it's probably a really bad idea to do that. I know I would never take any final (even a math final) without getting a good amount of sleep the night before, but you may feel differently.
I know this is evil to say, and to rub in...But I'm SOOOOO going to see ROTK a minute after midnight on Tuesday. YESSSSSSSSSSS
So am I dude. I've been looking forward to this all year.
Yeah..I've been looking forward to it too so I may just do it.
Who are you going with, and where are you going? (which theater?)
I donno because I didn't buy my tickets yet (still in the process of deciding if this is a really bad idea or not) or talk to anyone but my little sister about it. I'd probably go as close to my house as I can so I can go home and sleep for my final so that'd be parsipanny.
GIANT SCREEN oh yeah.....
Can I just reiterate that I think it would be a really bad idea to try to see the movie and then take a final 4 hours later? I definitely would not be going if I had anything important to do on that Wednesday morning.
I'll be totally wired and fine..and then I can come home and nap until my Psych problem..it'll be fun! I've been waiting for this for too long.
i'm pretty sure it's gonna still be in the theaters by this weekend.. so i'll go see it then.. too tired for 12 shows
Frodo of the nine fingers, and the ring of doooooooooooooooooooom
I have a LOTR question...
I want to read the books and it seems like they are packaged in sets with the Fellowship, Two Towers, and Return of the King...but I thought that the whole thing started with the Hobbit. I don't want to start with Fellowship just because thats the title of the first movie. I want to start from the very beginning and get the whole picture. Can someone help me?
yep!
Start with The Hobbit. If you like it, start reading LOTR.
I knew that you would be the person to answer this...thanks Ian.
Yeah..starting with the Hobbit is a good place, though it's my least favorite out of all of them. You don't need to read the Hobbit to understand all the other books though. If you end up enjoying all four books, try to read the Silmarillion so I can talk with someone about it!
The Silmarillion was awesome. I really need to reread it sometime.
i remember i read the end of this book in my homeroom last year adn just broke down and started crying. and no one could understnad why. and i couldn't even explain it to him but just saying that the great things came to an end.
theyre together sooo long and they love eachother. and then all must end. and the fact that frodo gets no credit in the shire for what he does. and they all have to part. couldn't they make a little community and all live together like village green? this is what i fear will happen with all my friends when we all start to move away and i don't want them to.
LOTR is a sad story overall, I guess. But, throughout the whole story, you're told that the time of man is coming, and all the other races will fade away, so it's almost sad in that "romeo and juliet" way, since you know what will happen in the end even though you don't want it to.
Who knows, tho, the gray havens may be a wonderful place for frodo, and he got to live with the elves and such, so that must have been great for him. Like bilbo, ending his days with the elves. That's what he chose, and he seemed happy with the decision.
Yeah, actually...if all the elves were leaving I'd want to go to the grey havens too. Have you ever read the Simirillian? They describe the grey havens and it's just awesome! Everyone is happy and there are lots of beautiful high elves.
Unfortunately, only elves and ringbearers are allowed, so...
Actually, Legolas sails over the sea when Aragorn finally dies, and with him goes Gimli soo, perhaps they allowed the fellowship as well?
Oh no he dies??? I knew I shouldn't have read this thread! I need to get these books!!!
haha, don't worry, it's not what you think.
He dies 120 years after the end of ROTK on his 210th birthday.
Don't tell people things like that before the read or watch the movies!!
You said yourself that you shouldn't read this thread if you don't want the ending to be spoiled.
Oh sure, let's be all technical why don't we? Haha, jk.
Oh..hah! I forgot about that. Sorry!
Oh, yeah. I think that's because Legolas and Gimli had become inseparable at that point.
Yeah..I don't know what that is all about. Actually, it's funny cause for people who don't read the books they don't learn about the whole Elves hating Dwarves so they don't get why them being such good friends is special.
