Have you any short stories, including fables, parables, straight-up off-beatness, etcetera ...share them here! :) I have included a fable that I just recently wrote, below, to kick things off.

Once upon a time, there was a forest, where the creatures of this forest, kept to themselves, but that was all to change soon. Maddox the Chameleon, sensed a storm, to be soon a-brewing. And, oh no ...a storm of this caliber to soon hit the forest, was not like any other storm, the forest had ever before experienced. No, no ...this storm was to be so great of a storm, that it did not deserve the title of "storm," but, rather, a title much greater. Yes, a title much greater ...say, along the lines of "monsoon." Yes, "monsoon," we'll say! Well, Maddox the Chameleon, did his part in being able to warn the others, so that they would have time to prepare for bracing themselves. However, that was Unfortunately, all that Maddox could do. He could tell the others about it, so that they would be able to get ready, but Maddox, could do nothing more, as far as taking care of himself is concerned. He could only live in hope, that the terrible monsoon would spare him, his life. Chameleons have a rough time, trying to survive monsoons. Terrence the Turtle, who's quarters is opposite where Maddox lives, was all set for the monsoon to hit, ages before word of the monsoon to come, was ever even predicted. Turtles are ready for the most outrageous things, and tend to live life, very keenly. For turtles have their shell! Signs of the coming monsoon, were starting to develop, as it was now obvious to all forest folk, that this was surely to occur, since the sky was turning a darker color. Terrence, who's name means "tender," started to think how smug his life has been up to this point, due to his trusty shell. He then realized, that the neighbor across from him, Mr. Chameleon, how funny he looks without a shell. He thought: "How strange. A turtle without a shell. I should offer him some help. I've had my shell long enough. It's time to give back to the community." So, Terrence the turtle strolled over to the chameleon, and introduced himself. The chameleon then returned the introduction in saying: "Hello. My name is Maddox." Terrence explained what he wanted to do for Maddox, as a good neighborly gesture, and in the middle of going back and forth in friendly arguement, since Maddox didn't want to accept, Terrence escaped quietly, to find a forest friend, who might be able to help him take his shell off, to give to Maddox. He finally met up with Bailey (who's name means "bailiff") the Beaver, who was able and kind enough to gently yank the shell off. Maddox, just noticing that Terrence had left, spotted what looked like a fellow chameleon in the distance ...except, that as the creature was approaching ever closer, he noticed it was carrying something. Then, once the creature got face to face with him, he said: "Wait a minute. You look awfully familiar. Wait! That's not you, is it, Mr. Turtle? ...Uh, uh ...Terrence? ...I mean. Hold on! It is you! And, that's your shell, you're carrying!" Terrence smiled and handed his shell to Maddox, who's name means "beneficient."
