Spoken Word UPDATED!
so in my creative writing class, we are now doing these spoken word pieces... i don't think i'm very good at it... its really hard... does any one else write this spoken word stuff? i want some reactions tho... what do you guys think? its kindda long but its suposed to be...
UPDATED! I finished the piece and added the ending to the end (how creative!) I read this in front of my class and this guy who is part of this spoken word group at a local college and he gave me some pointers in my reading of it (it really loses its effect when its not read outloud, but whatever) and over all said it was good and I should read it at that festival thing... o bolly...

Love
Love
Love
What is this emotion that we all claim we feel? ‘I love her.’ ‘He loves me.’ ‘We love each other.’ ‘I love you but I’m not in love with you.’ And then there’s the ‘We fell out of loves’ and the ‘I used to love him’.
Love
Love
Love
So what is this feeling that knocks you off your feet? That makes you cry, makes you laugh, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things.
The days when you wake up smiling. The times when you write in your diary ‘Today was the best day ever…’ or when you call your best friend and say ‘I have so much to tell you’.
The hugs and the kissing and the laughter. The flowers, the presents, teddy bears and candy and o I could just scream or puke or maybe even both at the same time because it makes me sick to think of all the world in a daze of love.
There there’s Suzie who kisses her boyfriend good bye not knowing that in five minutes his car can be found at Gina’s house. And she may never know or maybe she does know and pretends she doesn’t because she can’t bear to think of her life without Mr. Wonderful.
All the world says ‘well I know what love is… but I can’t explain it’. Or the teenagers who are told ‘you are too young to be in love’. Did you ever wonder why people always say ‘you’ll just know when you’re in love’ when you ask them when they knew they were in love? Maybe its because they themselves don’t know what love is but they don’t want to seem stupid so they repeat what their cousins fathers brother told them. And thus another generation is convinced that love not only exists but is this unexplainable epidemic that one day they will be able to experience.
O how wonderful!! You mean that some day I can cry too? I can eat ice cream alone in my house when I get dumped? I can get cheated on? I can get stood up? I can get divorced? I can hardly wait for it! But no, that’s not what is told. To the impressionable youth all that is told is how mommy and daddy met. Or how from love comes adorable babies. But what about the bills and the diapers and fights and the reality of the harsh world? Well now, we can’t tell children about reality. All they must know is Dr. Seuss and Sesame Street and this ‘I love you, you love me’ garbage.
And you wonder why the world is full of rebellious teenagers who hate their parents for not telling them the whole truths. Maybe no one knows the whole truth. Maybe we all just wander this Earth trying to convice others as we convince ourselves that we have a purpose for being here, for speaking, for living. But just maybe all of that is not enough.

so yea i have to read this piece tomorow at this arts fest thing... i am so nervous... i had to memorize the whole thing... and o man, i hope i don't puke...
you'll be FAB!!!! let us know how it goes!
It might actually be an added effect if you puke at the end.
alright, i updated it with the final ending...
Dave Chapelle, hehe. He does this thing about how Sesame Street teaches kids how to judge people.
Kid talking to Oscar the Grouch - "Oscar, you are a grouch."
Oscar - "B**ch, I live in a trash can! I'm the poorest %&*# on Sesame Street! Aint no one helping me!"
Then when the kids grow up, they arrogantly step over homeless people saying, "get a job, grouch." "get it together, grouch."
can we just stop writing things that are too long to read, and focus on our BOOK OF THE MONTH CLUB
this month we are focusing on exodus, because the israelites are NEVER happy, and pharoah is always changing his mind
i quoted the bible in my piece! haha my class didn't know what it was from and sad to say one girl said "o yea! u got that from A Walk to Remember"! i almost walked outta the room
I have never heard of this spoken word stuff..why is my Creative Class dumb?

or the beat poets like gil scott herring "the revolution will not be televised."
spoken word is a term for poetry read aloud with stand-up comic timing and aggression... its basically regular poetry except when u read it u gotta get all into it and its suposed to seem like one long piece that u just thought of... kinda like that def poetry jam stuff
