Short Stories

thatdarngirl by thatdarngirlOG 2002 · Apr 20, 2004 · 186 views · ·

Hello people, I am in need of one or two good short stories to write my literature research paper on. If it's two they have to be the same theme or have something that connects them. So, just name some short stories that you like and why you like them and then I can find them and write my paper and everyone will be happy!

another good one is The Minister's Black Veil by Hawthorne.
It's really kinda creepy but in a non-obvious way. I also enjoyed To Build a Fire by Jack London. Takes you right into the guys mind, very interesting.

yea, it's defiantly weird.....but if someone tried that today he would be completely ostracized & forced to live out his life as a hermit. In hawthorne's story the man is feared & respected by the people.

basicly i just find it interesting that the guy doesn't get burned as a witch or something like that...it all ends up having the opposite affect.

Lost by Isaac Bashevis Singer!!!!! (exclamation points not part of name) This is just one of the most interesting short stories i've come across in a while & I never hear much about this writer, well, it could be b/c he's dead but still.....!!!!

I heard The Awakening was good did you ever read that?

Yes, I had to read that last year for Lit. I wasn't the biggest fan of it until we really tore it apart, then I enjoyed it.

Edgar Allan Poe has a lot of short stories to choose from. One that really affected (or possibly traumatized) me was the telltale heart.

ohh man...anything by Jeffery Archer. SOOO good. I have one of his books called "To Make a Long Story Short", it has a short story about a guy who completely scams the british legal system to make approx. 200,000 pounds. it's an AMAZING story. and he goes to trial, defends himself, and gets away with it. SOOO AWESOME.
