Ever Hear of...

forrestina by forrestinaOG 2002 · Oct 4, 2004 · 606 views

Rilo Kiley - chick sounds kinda like Jewel. They have a very 70s/80s feel, but every song I've heard so far sounds different from the last.

Put up more artists. Always interested in new stuff.

L.L. Cool J's song HEAD-SPRUNG! I don't like much hip hop, but MAN, that song rules! "everybody get our heeaaad-sprung!"

socalgal #9.1 socalgalOG 2003

i like that song too. it's just fun.

"they call me big T R..."

Kaki King

I'd almost describe her as the passive-aggressive sister to Badly Drawn Boy. Perhaps a liberalised Lisa Loeb and more bearable than Ani.

If you have Quicktime, here's a little sample:
http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/KakiKing/video/KakiKing_ConanVidFull_ref.mov

Sometimes she uses the guitar in a very coo percussion way. And I dug that finger tapping.

Check out her other songs tho too. One's not enough. she's at www.kakiking.com and also on mySpace.

fivezero #8.1 fivezeroOG 2003

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

theremin thereminOG 2002

Good, maybe things can get back on topic now.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

whats a theremin?

theremin thereminOG 2002 fivezero

I know that you know already, and that you're asking only for it to be revealed to others. But, I've already explained it to the eZabel community ages ago when I created the user name. Since I was prompted tho, I shall explain again. A theremin is a musical instrument that was invented in the early 1900s by a Russian scientist named, Lev Termen. Still, to this day the only instrument that can be played without touching, and has similarities to the cello (as far as method in playing is concerned, and number of octaves, and sound can be sometimes be similiar, but depends on user's settings), except is electronic, has no physical neck and pitch of the notes are played by person's distance in relation to antennae, within a 6 ft circle. Sustain is controlled by antennae as well.

do the chickens have large talons?

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 rocksupastar

what's a moog?

theremin thereminOG 2002 fivezero

Robert Moog made a bunch of things. Depends what you're referring to. Synth modules, keyboard synths, theremins, pedals, what have you.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 theremin

Synth is cheating.

theremin thereminOG 2002 fivezero

what do you mean?
did you not read my entire comment?

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003 theremin

dude Motion city soundtrack uses a moog. Good stuff..

theremin thereminOG 2002 hunkpapap

what? havent heard the sdtrk. supposing you mean a keyboard synth by saying moog.. what model?

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003 theremin

no no dude, their album says guitar, bass, drums and moog...

theremin thereminOG 2002 hunkpapap

Then they're dumb.. they should've specified. I bet they even pronounce it mög instead of mōg. I venture to guess they might mean something like the minimoog keyboard synth if they just put plain "moog." But yeh, it's always overlooked that moog made and still makes more then keyboards. Funnily enough, I think he even started out making aetherphones (theremins) before keyboards and modules. I, myself own a Big Briar (Robert Moog's company) etherwave model theremin. Late model of course.. I bet those first theremins Moog made are worth a ton. Not as much as the RCA company's theremin circa 1920 (I think was the year), but still a ton.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 theremin

Seriously, when was the last time you took a dump?

theremin thereminOG 2002 fivezero

Haven't heard of the band, but if you say so

theremin #7 thereminOG 2002

The Reindeer Section

..The singer is Snow Patrol's singer & there's also members of Belle & Sebastian. So, it's very likely you'll dig it if you like those two groups.

fivezero #6 fivezeroOG 2003

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE!? maybe you have. their new album is out as of Tuesday. get it. it's a keeper.

I love Braid. Hey Mercedes doesn't impress me too much, though. I'll remain faithful, as I did when Blake moved from Jawbreaker to Jets to Brazil, hoping their old sound will show on a few tracks.

theremin #1.1.1.1 thereminOG 2002

you're joking. you know what... i think that Silver Spoons kid is a drummer in a punk band. I vaguely remember hearing that on VH1 i think it was.. like where are they now, probably. Don't remember what band tho? Maybe I'll care enough to google it someday. However, I can't be bothered with doing so at the moment. hehe
