must say, after i heard this album a few more times I LUVS IT
also, when they performed "Little Sister" on SNL and Will Ferrel came out in his Blue Oyster Cult outfit and did the cowbell thing, I WAS DYING
good stuff
Sometimes albumns are like that they need a few listens to get a true feel.
Saw two bands last night. HUGE bud-slurping, boot-skootin', diddy bopppin', head bangin' fun. the Eagles of Death Metal and Atomic B*itchwax. Eagles were way awesome. And they had some Queens of the Stone Age/Mondo Generator veterans playing the instruments. So awesome. They have an easy kinda bar rock sound, with a tongue firmly in cheek style. I mean, just look at them! http://www.eaglesofdeathmetal.digitalsol.com/Gallery/Eagles-on-stage-3.gif The singer and guitarist from Queens of the Stone Age drums for them sometimes.
Atomic B'wax was the technically amazing part of the show. Never seen a bassist move so quickly. I'm not even joking. They had a kinda hard rock, thick guitar, bluesy feel. So great. And it was a bit like hair metal--every song had an amazing soaring solo. SWEET.
Bye the way they are not "stoner rock" they are just plain rock your streching your limtied knowlegde of stonerock a mile Alana.
The new album brings a different direction. If your a queens beginer and songs for the deaf is your first album of theres you couldnt appreciate this album unless you have listen to rated R first.
Songs for the deaf took 3 months to record all the other albums took 3 weeks including this one. I will say its much better live. I appreciate bands personally that take a different direction every album.
But Rated R was a more melodic soft album With the ocassional heavy riff and or song mixed in. So if You can get down with that you'll like the new album. If your more of a heavy music loyalist, than there first album called queens of the stone age would be more to your liking.
But if you had to listen to them in order songs for the deaf should be last because it mixes both styles.
This albumn he wanted to take it back to basics and not question every widget of music, Josh homme basically said he wanted to play and not spend a quater of the year in the studio.
I can feel that Because theres sometimes I just wanna set our pratcie /studio on fire. When you spend too much time in the studio You go stir carzy and stop caring what anyone thinks or woiuld think.
Because when it comes down to it through everything its about playing live. Cause if your not playing live you may as well be writing
Friskies commericals and radio jingles.
This is the order I suggest since I nominate myself the offical Qotsa Chamber of commerece. This is jamiephaser not saying goodbye just saying.
1 .Lulabies to Paralyze
2 .Rated R
3.Self Titeld (queens of the stone age)
4. Songs for the Deaf
And if your feeling froggy get the kyuss, Queens split
Wow. This is shocking. They're among my all-time favorite bands. To each his own, for sure.
the first time i heard their new cd it put me to sleep while driving so i almost died, so yeah, a little bit boring
It's STONER ROCK what do ya want?? lol
hah yeah i like them, and "songs for the deaf" is great, this new one i just think is a bit boring to drive to. But to just have playing in the background while i'm cooking or reading or cleaning or something, would be nice and relaxing.
"songs for the deaf, I mean, you can't even hear them."
best EVER
