Get Your Weerez On
So, I was always under the impression that Weezer fans are nice, fun loving people. A good majority of them are whiney emo kids, but that's cool because you can push those kids around at shows and they'll just write a song in which they cry about it. So wrong.
Went to Roseland ballroom to see the great =w=, it's a beautiful venue. Everything has just recently been redone, and if I had been paying more attention I would have noticed the bleacher-type set up to the right so people could see. Instead I opted for the "try to get really close to the front without waiting on line for hours" deal. I thought that this shouldn't be too hard, most of these kids have never been to a standing room only show and don't know what to expect. The second the opening band (which was pretty bad) got off there was a mad rush for the stage. No everyone moves to the back for some beer and Lindsay can sneak to the front. Mad rush. I got well acquainted with my neighbors as I was practically lifted off the ground and stayed that way for about a half hour. I was 10 people away from the stage, though, so who cares?
When Weezer actually came on things just got awful. I probably would have fallen to the ground but there wasn't even room for that. I've been to semi-rough shows and this was entirely different and much worse. No pits opened, who moshes to Weezer anyways? Instead it was just constant pushing back and forth for the first half of the set. After half a song in the front I was unable to breathe and headed backwards where the AC was actually working. People were real jerks and wouldn't even let me back. That, I do not understand.
Other then all that drama..the set was very awesome. The light up =w= is so fun, I want one for my room. Rivers was uncharacteristicly chatty and nice..he actually seemed to appreciate the fans instead of telling them that "just because you buy my CD doesn't mean you can talk to me."
There was also a lot of people smoking up. I didn't know that pot and weezer went so well together.

=( a weezer free year for me
Smile, fool. The new weezer release shows me that they are DONE. Rick Rubin couldn't even save them...sad sad sad.
the new song is a stretch, but i'm a mindless follower.
Really? I absolutely love Beverly Hills. Haven't heard the rest of it on CD yet but it sounded good live (come on.."We are all on drugs!") and they played mostly Blue which is good for me!!
pinkerton is where it's at
They should be back soon darling and I'll buy and we shall go and rock shall live on!
yay i knew i enjoyed you!
Speaking of "darling," they should call up to get the Soul Coughing lads together and do "Hey m' Darling" live for me to see
when then YOU are a lucky one.... its been 22 Weezer free years for me, and ive never been happier!!!
and by happy you mean gay
actually, for your joke to REALLY work.. you should have said Gayer... cause i said Happier.... BUT... i digress
gayer isn't even a word!
UH HUH!!!! is too!
great show last night, thanks again for selling me the tix.
lots of geeks and nerds. far more than any other show I've ever been too. that was cool/interesting.
not surprised at the smoking. its at every show I've ever been to.
According to the Weezer website last night's show was better :( bummer. Its okay, they played the same set list (changed one of the new songs and the order..big deal) and there were supposedly lots of more fights and faintings?
I feel better that I shared the joy of weezer even though that one little part of me was calling me an idiot and wanting to go despite the tired-ness and having to go to work factors.
uh, hash pipe? c'mon...
Well yeah..but smoking cigs are illegal inside buildings..so they smoked lots of pot instead?
The kids know they won't be caught.
