Unwritten Law
I just downloaded the new CD of Unwritten Law. They're a punkish band that's been around forever but I've never gotten totally into them, they have some kinda cool albums. I think that their albums are kinda hit or miss, sometimes they are good and sometimes they are just typical and/or lousy.
My problem with their new album "Here's to the Mourning" is that they tease you. They have a really really cool intro to a song or you start to really get into the music, and then they'll do something to totally gayify the song. Like they have one song with kind of deep lyrics and you start to get a little attatched to the song, and then at the end of the song, theres whistling... WHISTLING!! first time i heard it was like what IS this??! Then they have other songs with just really stupid choruses, little kids singing choruses, or dumb backup vocals.
Bottom line, I think this is a band with definite talent, the singer has a really cool voice and their music is cool. I think that they just spent too much time in the studio. Probably some lame producer made them add all that extra useless crap and they over-produced the album. They'd probably be a cool band to see live.
