Musical Periods
Albums represent times in our lives, don't they? I've been going through my CDs and thinking about the times during which I listened to them. Share your albums and what they mean to you.
The Get Up Kids - Something to Write Home About - I bought this album right before I left for pioneer school, and it represented the first thing I purchased for myself for the entire year I was pioneering. I remember picking it up and thinking, "$13? I don't know if I have that to spend, but I'll splurge!" I listened to it on my laptop while I was staying at a brother and sister's house for the school, studying and thinking about Donovan. That was actually the week I decided I wanted to go out with him.
The Ataris - A mixed CD of all their albums - I listened to this same CD every time I drove down the shore or into Jersey City to meet Beachbum and all the other shore kids and galavant. I listened to it driving home, too, in my old Crown Vic with no AC and only one functioning window.
Braid - Frame and Canvas - Summer of 1998, first kisses, first loves, all that good stuff.
Anything ska, particularly Day 19, Face First, Professor Plum - My last year of high school and the year after that, partying and going to 2 shows a weekend with Katiedid. Such great times!

oh, yeah. i used to listen to a lot of gangster rap when the Biggie released his first album and the Chronic from Dr. Dre came out. I liked Das Efx, Tribe Called Quest, etc. That was 5-7 grade. Eighth and high school was all Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Helmet, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins then into Sublime and Bosstones, etc. Now? I eat what I like.
i saw Prof Plum at the Tradewinds with Mighty Mighty Bosstones. such a great show.
