Can you hear this ...

superhero by superheroOG 2004 · May 25, 2006 · 45 views

Ok, I'll say it out loud. I'm 26! I never thought I'd be this old, but it's happened. Sure, I have a lot of good memories, and I'm not old by any means (although sometimes in the gym I wonder why I'm done so soon), but this really just got to me.

I read an article on Engadget about this first. Remember in the Awake "Watching the World" a while back there was an item about a store owner who played a sound outside his store at a frequency that only teenagers could hear - and after a while it got annoying, so the teenagers stopped hanging around outside the store.

Anyway, someone made a ringtone out of it, so a kid could theoretically have his phone ring in class, and the teacher could NEVER hear it. What a hysterical idea !

So, below are the links for the ringtones. I CANNOT HEAR THEM! So frustrating. Can anyone hear them?

Let me know, thanks.

You're kidding, right? You seriously don't hear anything when you play those .wav files?

Update: Ok. I think those are just bad .wav files. Here's a link to a zip file containing some purer sounds:

When I blast the sound I can barely hear the 18kHz one.

Oh I thought I was way over the hill... the speakers on my computer didn't 'work', but I sampled them thru a pair of studio monitors! (Boorah!!, I can still hear!).. AND yes that would be annoying!
