Punk up the volume

ballyhoo by ballyhooOG 2001 · Aug 21, 2003 · 147 views · ·

Is Punk Rock misused in todays music world? Are a lot of the "punk" bands today, really punk? Or are they just following the trend of earlier punk bands? My understanding was that punk rock was an original forum of music. Something not to be copied, but built upon to be unique. These bands do exist, however, they aren't the ones you hear on the radio or on nickelodeon.

I saw the movie, Freaky Friday this weekend. The kid has a punk garage band. I have never seen a punk garage band of fifteen year olds who have 3 guitarists, among the other musicians. They also had a nice polished sound for a garage band. Punk is just another label. It's lost the original meaning. Punk is cool and edgy now. If you made most 12 yr olds listen to real punk, they would say, "this doesn't sound anything like New Found Glory." AND my chair just broke.
