Guilty Pleasure Award: Fall Out Boy - Infinity on High. Hate if you like, it was a fun album for me.
Best Soundtrack: Dan in Real Life. Composed mostly by Sondre Lerche. It's terrific.
Jury's still out...Spoon, Strung Out, The Graduate, Motion City Soundtrack, Bloc Party, The Shins, Arcade Fire, Relient K, Cartel, Radiohead- havent listened enough yet.

hmm i dont see Chevelles Vena Sera anywhere. I would say it was an exceptional album. I don't usually get excited over much anything but that was a good return to norm for me.
supposedly rage against the machine is back together. how sick would it be if they came out with a new album!
Looking back, I have several changes to make.
10. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
9. Anberlin - Cities
8. New Found Glory - From The Screen to Your Stereo, pt.2
7. The White Stripes - Icky Thump
6. Steel Train - Trampoline
5. Against Me! - New Wave
4. Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre
3. The Rocket Summer - Do You Feel...
2. Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light
1. Kanye West - Graduation
You know JP, the more I listen to your number 2 selection, the more I agree with you. I like every song on that album. That's pretty rare where I like all the songs on an album of anyone. Very well put together. I like the last track the best, Dizzy.
isnt that a great song? see, brotherman. we will have you on our side in no time.
Oh don't get me wrong... 75% of what I have listened to, that was recommended on here, has ranked in a category of chalkboard screeching madness... If you'd like to recommend similiar sounding bands to JEW, then go for it. I like that sound.
A whole new world of music has been opened up to you.
A couple of suggestions, in this order:
Jimmy Eat World's previous two albums (Futures, and self-titled (aka Bleed American)) are very similar in sound. Check those out. If you like their other two full albums (Clarity and Static Prevails), you are awesome.
Anberlin. Their newest is called Cities and it's really good. If you don't like a song at first, you will love it by your second or third listen through the album.
Mae - The Everglow
The Honorary Title - Scream and Light Up the Sky
Waking Ashland - Composure
The Juliana Theory - Understand this is a dream
I'll check them out.
I bought the self-titled JEW album tonight. Not nearly as inspiring as the newest album, but I still liked it.
I think itll grow on you.
probably. The third track I recognized immediately. Must have been on the radio.
the juno soundtrack. delightful.
im checking out The Dear Hunter's new songs, the ones they have online. its phenomenal, so far. this will make it onto my list if i buy it/all of the songs are this good
I bought the Jimmy Eat World album the other day. It's pretty good.
whoa, whoa, whoa
STOP THE PRESSES
DAN HALL BOUGHT AN INDIE ALBUM
well, JEW does in fact get radio play (i think, right?), so maybe the mainstream can actually appreciate the "fine wine" of indie music
I bought it at Walmart. Can't be too unknown when the biggest chain store in the world carries it. I would certainly not say it is the number 2 album of the year though. That's pushing it.
it's JP's #2. where's your top 10 list?
Oh... Well, I don't have one.
He doesn't have a Top 10 because Rush only released 1 album.
Nooooooo!!!! Because I don't buy enough albums every year to make a legit top ten.
You would buy 10 albums a year tho, if that's how many Rush put out per year... wouldn't ya? haha
Now that's just ridiculous
The biggest chain store in the world is 7-Eleven.
I meant financially, not number of stores. I don't think Slurpee revenues come close to topping what Walmart rakes in.
haha Just messing with you anyway... 7-Eleven doesn't even sell CDs (I don't think... well, other than those CD samplers that come in glossy magazines)
WOW! this is pretty crazy. i hope you enjoy it, mr. brotherman. i dont know if jew is on the radio. probably some rock stations.
I thought I heard one of the songs before.

How could I forget THE TUSS?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tuss
They had two releases this year:

there's a rumor that The Tuss is actually Aphex Twin. kinda sounds like him. either way, groundbreaking tunes!
