message board
I'm tired of sitting around and waiting for my web people to create an internal message board for me. I need something to keep the two parts of my department (each in a different building) posted on new information gathered when learning how to manage new carriers. Right now when I'm trying to create Training Manuals, I take screenshots and send them out via e-mail to everyone. It's really inefficient. Aside from maybe let's say using Blogger...has anyone found any free message board place? Suggestions.

Well the nice thing about the email is everyone (im assuming) downloads the email to their own PC.
If you're thinking of putting content publicly visible on a password protected management system (bulletin board, blog, etc), you have to consider how much content (namely photos, documents) you would need to keep on there. You know how much content there is and how many people access this content?
when i send huge screenshots of programs to show someone from another office what i'm looking at...crashy the computer
hmmm maybe: www.blogdrive.com or www.ebloggy.com ?
Do you guys have Outlook and Exchange?
You could just use Public Folders...
we do but they always crash so that's why we're looking to do something on our website internally
I'd stay away from public blogs for corporate info.
im keeping it private and modding it if that helps. it was okayed by supervisors for now. =)
Even some of those blog companies give you private blogs but the sites dont use SSL (secure) so passwords, content, information is plainly available to hackers.
there's not any personal info on there it's just like us talking about streamlining our processes
A blog isn't totally a bad idea, it's just that with most blogs, i'ts fairly hard to find older content.
You can get private blogs for groups with different levels of access and moderation, not sure if they are completely secure (using SSL for example)
This is assuming, like dean is, that the content is fairly important that you wouldn't want others using it for their own. Otherwise, no SSL :p
