this functionality is what i love about utorrent. i haven't used the speed scheduler plugin for Azureus, though.
but in utorrent, you can control the speed by hour of the day. so i have it stop all activity for like an hour every 3 hours or so. i've been capped by optimum like 4 or 5 times...
i can't call them anymore to have them uncap me, so i have to wait it out. i think i have figured out a way of getting the cap off faster tho.
the guy I talked to last time I needed to get uncapped told me about Speed Scheduler, he said have it go for an hour then off for a half hour. so I set it up that way. maybe [3 on, 1 off] would be better so I have a longer download period so they don't have to stop and then ramp up so frequently.
Anyway, so far haven't been capped, and I'm still getting all the stuff I need.
i usually get capped when people go crazy on my ftp and download stuff for hours on end. i wish i could find a good Win32 ftp server that supported scheduling like that. :/
This capping you speak of... sounds barbaric! You mean you can't open your taps and keep the water running when ever you want?? The only time I ever got 'in trouble' was when I did over a 100gb of traffic in one month.
yeah, it's annoying. you basically can transfer as much as you want, but if you are uploading constantly for an unspecified amount of the time so that other customers are affected, they'll throttle you.
i think if you're uploading at like 20-30KB/s or higher or something for like 6-8 hours straight, you'll get capped. That's what it seems like at least.
They won't give you specifics, which is so annoying.
