Batteries

I am convinced that there has got to be something wrong with me(I'm sure this is no shock to any of you). I've only had two cell phones, but both phones after only 2 months of use, started to have battery problems. What am I doing wrong? Recently, I have gotten so desperate that I now leave the backlight off all the time because if I don't, my phone will die at around 5:00pm. I look like an idiot cuz I can't use my phone unless I'm standing under a light. But any ways, with the light off, I am able to keep it on until about midnight, at which point if its not plugged in, it will turn off. This is VERY annoying! Should I buy a new battery? Maybe I am doing something wrong. I mean, I do text message all day long, but that what phones are FOR! So shouldn't they work?!? I barely use it for talking, I would say on average I'm only on my phone for about an hour each day. But it can't be the texting because I don't even have the light turned on! I heard that charging your phone over night is bad, is it really? Because I do that. Does any one else have this problem?

I've had my phone for a little over a year and I keep it plugged in whenever I am home. It doesn't last the whole day not plugged in, especially if I make some calls (even one call can almost kill my battery). I'm not sure what type of battery I have..but I don't see why i can't keep it charging all night..won't it just stop using up energy once it's fully charged?

everyone i know who has an LG has this problem, but my advice is to turn your phone off every few days...if you can bear it.

speaking of which, i went to the verizon place and said "yo, fix my phone" and aparently, i need an upgrade and thats why its not working... but i didn't feel like spending a half hour in there so they could fix it so basically from now on, i just have to leave my phone on either vibe or ring, i can't have it on "vibe and ring" which just further proves my ghettoness... haha

try dialing *228?

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

for real?! the guy said i had to get it done there...

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

he could have meant a software upgrade. which would involving downloading software to the phone via data cable. OR he could have meant dialing *228 to find the new towers near you.

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

ok well i did the *228 thing then tried to make it work, and it still won't so i'm guessing he meant a software upgrade.. and that makes sense cuz my fone is old.... they don't make this one any more right?

"I do text message all day long, but that what phones are FOR!"

sorry, but that just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.. haha

and i think it's generally a bad idea to charge your phone longer than it needs charging, and to charge it if it's not fully dead. i could be wrong tho

That matters for nickel-cadmium batteries, but I don't think it matters if you have a lithium ion battery which I assume she has since very few people still use nicad batteries.

yodasucka #1.1.1 yodasuckaOG 2003

so i can leave it on the charger all night without it being bad? and yea sometimes i put it on the c harger when there is still one bar left... but if i don't, then by the time i wake up it'll be dead and i'll hve to leave it home chargeing while i go to school WHICH DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF A CELL PHONE!

iwz #1.1.2 iwz

yeah.. but why does it seem so that many phone batteries go to crap after a few months?

skaorsk8 #1.1.2.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

usually batteries last about 300 charge cycles - approx. 1 year. usually they last longer if they are only charged once per day w/the phone turned OFF (melody) and not talked on while charging (melody)

lately i've been having some really crappy batteries though, i think this is a ploy to get people to buy more phones

so should i just buy a new battery? how do i go about doing this?
