rocksupastar by rocksupastarFounder · Jun 10, 2004 · 192 views

So i have a thought... and correct me if im wrong... but.. vtext.com is free. Right? Sooo... say if i logged onto aim through vtext.com (text number of 4647) and then chat through aim through Vtext.com... would this be free, or even work? I dunno... i just was thinking outside the box... Milkboy, will it work?

this question hurts my head.

4647 logs you into AIM, but if you only get 500 free texts per month, this is not a good solution. each message you send counts as one text.

vtext.com from the computer is free. if you could, a good way would be log-in to vtext.com via your phone, and send texts that way. but you would use up airtime.

i like verizon b/c of the free in-calling (this will eventually get me to switch from nextel - every person i know has verizon, pretty much), but they are like, RIDICULOUS with text messages charges. you have to pay $5.00 for 500... with every other provider, you get unlimited for the same price or a few dollars more. The only other option with Verizon is a $20/month 2000 text messages package. Which is stupid.

tmobile doesnt have unlimited texting anymore, its 1000 messages now for the extra money

modestjesse #1.1.1 modestjesseOG 2004

I have unlimited text messages with t-mobile. Probably only get 5 a month though. :P

socalgal #1.1.1.1 socalgalOG 2003

mines free too. i luv txtng...i hate talkign on the phone so txtng is PERFECT to get to the point, directions, etc.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

I completly agree, and I have a keyboard on my phone so it works so well. :)

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

oh wow, what kind of phone?

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

sidekick

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

small?

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

thick, I'm not happy with the size or the phone, or the fact that I never have a good signal, but the other things this thing can do are awesome

forrestina #1.1.1.2 forrestinaOG 2002

how the heck did you get that? i only have 300 for my sidekick.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

It's in the plan I have.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

we've never had that...

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004

It's part of the sidekick plan. It's only available for the sidekick I think.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

well sidekick unlimited only has 300 text messages. check your contract.

I thought that vtext.com was free... hence free texting.. right?

thatdarngirl #1.3 thatdarngirlOG 2002

I was paying 5 dollars with AT&T for unlimited incoming texts and 100 outgoing. I now have Verizon $5 for 500..is that incoming and outgoing?

socalgal #1.3.1 socalgalOG 2003

i think each. I have verizon also, but my textng is free.

how long have you been a customer?

thatdarngirl #1.3.1.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

Since yesterday..we switched over from AT&T

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

good switch!

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Yeah..I'm really happy about it. My mom wasn't too thrilled (but this type of stuff is a bit beyond her) because she enjoyed AT&T for some reason but only Verizon has reception by my boyfriends house soo it would make sense for me to have that so I'm not driving around in cow country without reception.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

yeah that could be scary! i love the plan if your family/friends are members, it's no charge! thats the best!

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Yeah! I'm excited about that. Though I'm a bit confused. I have the "in" plan but if one of my friends doesn't but has verizon does it cost me minutes when they call me?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

yes. actually it depends on what plan you have. i have the 4000 anytime minutes....then i have free weekends and evenings on top of the "in" network.

so if you're friends out of the verizon network call you, you're "anytime" minutes kick in depending on the time of day

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 socalgal

ahem....i don't think that's quite right.... (?)

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 skaorsk8

whats not right? my plan?

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 socalgal

no. i believe free- "in" calling applies to any verizon customer, meaning if you have "in" on your plan, you can call any of the 28 million customers on Verizon without using your minutes. If they don't have "in", it will use THEIR regular minutes - you remain unaffected.

iwz iwz skaorsk8

wait... you can have verizon, and NOT have "in"??

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 iwz

Yeah..out of my family plan (mom, sister and myself) only I have IN.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 iwz

yrp. ig you've had verizon a long time, with no plan changes - you may have only 1000 mobile-mobile minutes, or none at all. you may have to say "swtich me to the new plan!" by calling 800-2-join-in

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 skaorsk8

how can you remain unaffected if you have "in" and your friends dont? only ones in the "in" don't get charged.

like i'm "in" and talking to you, you're "out" so my anytime minutes kick in....right?

perrin perrinOG 2004

Yeah around here Verizon has the best service with just about every other company you tend to have problems in the burg especially.

fivezero #1.4 fivezeroOG 2003

wait! 500 for 5 dollars?! with no set text plan--it cost the same! texts are ten cents each any old way! scammers!

i do the like the free verizon to verizon. 95% of my friends have verizon. i haven't gone over my minutes in a long time.
