Count of Monte Cristo

Has anyone seen this movie? Better yet, has anyone seen this movie and read the book? Awful..absolutely awful! The first half of the movie was pretty okay, nicely drawn out about how he Edmond becomes the Count etc. It followed the book closely enough. After he gets out though, what did the screen-play writer do, throw away the book? Maybe he just never read it. The rest of the movie has very few similarities to the book save for the theme of 'revenge'. I was very angry. Even as just a movie it wasn't any good. You spend an hour and a half leading up to this great 'lets take revenge on everyone' and for less then an hour he does but it isn't spectacular or mean or anything at all. Just awful.

LUIS GUZMAN does a good job too. I never saw the movie, but he plays a dude called Jacopo the Maggot. I love that guy.

I agree that the movie doesn't follow the book that closely, but I liked the movie. Mainly because I think the girl that plays Mercedes does such an incredible job.

Hmm, this is one of my favorites, interesting how the book changed your feelings about the movie. Never read the book.

Very classy revenge, and I think the extremely hopeless situation presented at the beginning made the climax that much more impressive.

I liked this movie. Jim Caviezel is HOT. The other guy - his teeth annoy me to no end. I mean who has teeth that huge. Who.

all the interviews he did for promoting that movie, it was clear he got way too into it...saw him on a religious channel too giving an interview, I was like c'mon! you were so amazingly cute in Pay it Forward..do more stuff like that. I don't wanna know his beliefs!

isn't this book like a bazillion pages long? Great movie by the way...

thatdarngirl #5.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

It is fairly long but once you get past the begining it goes fairly quickly and its actually a great read. I usually don't agree with a lot of the classics being classics but I do with this one.

Old school movie buff, saw both oldies versions and then the modern re-make. They each gave something a little different.
Pretty good overall.
